Strange Experience

And to this day, I do not know who “they” were: drug smugglers, Illegals, wayward hikers, ... ?

Hey! Looks like you solved it. Happy to help put that one to bed for you.

I do appreciate the effort you put into that particular batch of insanity though. Surely the most eloquent bit of prose fit to be scrawled on a wall at an asylum.

If for some reason you're not serious though, sorry for killing the joke.

So then, knowing that, and when, my father had died, even though I had absolutely no knowledge of where he was, or how he was, and absolutely no contact with any one that even knew him, for well over half of my lifetime, was not all so amazing?!

*sniffle*

I am right now very disappointed with my nonexistent telepathic abilities! :sigh:
*she uttered, mildly sarcastically, in her esoteric, near Gypsyesque accent * ;)

Condolences about your dad.

But no, it's not amazing. It falls under the category of weird, but statistically possible. I also wouldn't be surprised if you're letting hindsight interfere with your memory of the event.

Your telepathic abilities are nonexistent. *he said, flatly, without a trace of sarcasm*

No, no hindsight was involved. This was all, exactly as it happened. And can be attested to by friends who knew of my sudden urgency to locate him, and by the social worker who finally located me, and who was in charge of his case (he died a horrible, slow, death of asbestosis toxemia).

Coincidence - possibly, though, highly improbable.

I am sorry if such things bother some people. But sometimes these occurrences really do happen.
sorry for killing the joke.
Yes it was only meant, as you would say, "joke".
But this is okay, I forgive you. :)

The recount of my father's death was, however, not.
Ask any psychologist, these things do sometimes just happen.

It's really quite offensive when a narrowly scientist-minded person comes into a discussion about things that are far outside of their study, experience, or inclination, and act as if they know more about the nature of existence than all the sages, philosophers, poets, monks, artists and seekers of all kinds throughout all of history.
I for one will stand on their shoulders, just as you do those of science. As well as my own knowledge and experience. Even if Yalana didn't care, or choose to interpret what happened spiritually, or even just energetically ~ christ, even science points to that interconnectedness ~ this shit is real, it happens all the time, and people are free to choose to engage it or not. And opinions are like assholes. But it often seems to me that when people share these types of experiences on this board, it's like a bunch of bankers come into an art studio and start telling them what to paint. Because they know what has "value".
All consciousness is interconnected and exists outside of our bodies. Dreams are often psychological but can also lead to other, shamanic states of being, in which information can be found and brought back, and where deep and important work can be done. The electrical impulses monitored on a screen are only the tip of the iceberg. The web did NOT come into existence in the last 20 or so years.
Rant/alternative and equally valid viewpoint post over...

Good to be forgiven! :techman:

There's nothing you said there that's even a little reasonable.

But whatever, live and let live; I'm not likely to change your mind anyway.

Please, DeafPoet, I am truly sorry if this has frightened you. It was only my intention to entertain, and to share with others.:)

More power to ya! :techman:

But, opinions are like assholes and if I want to call bullshit on "psychic abilities" (with an accompanying cogent argument, supplied above) then that's what I'm going to do. I'm not really concerned whether or not you find my interjections offensive.

You're equally justified in the post you just made. See? We can all get along.

I would love it if I had any weird experiences to report, it would just mean that the universe is a more interesting place. A strictly rational, scientific universe, while nicely organized, is rather boring. And, I say that as a man of science who studies how things work. I would love to find evidence of the paranormal, life after death, psychic abilities, predicting the future, etc.

I'm at a point where I think these thing would just make life and the universe more interesting. I've even tried investigating these or putting myself into situations where I'd be more likely to experience them

However, I do not have any experiences that qualify as paranormal or weird. I've had a few dreams that seemed to predict the future but I believe that they are coincidence.

Mr Awe

I once had a strange experience with a girl who was into bestiality.

:crazy::ack:

Yeah, I know. I ran. Fast.
