Story with a happy ending

Last week I was doing some cleaning and heard something that sounded like barking/whimpering coming from outside. I looked out on the porch, and here was this little puppy with no collar, no tag, nothing. I took her around to a few houses up and down the street to try to find out who she belonged to with no success. We took her to the vet, got her de-wormed, treated for fleas, and just generally examined. My wife printed up a bunch of flyers, which I distributed all over the neighborhood. Still, no luck. So we started emailing everybody we knew asking if anybody wanted a dog, and a friend of one of the people we emailed works for a rescue, one of the ones that adopts dogs and cats out of petsmart. She said she'd take her. Now, we'd have kept her, but she was too rough for our pug and our two cats. She's a puppy, so she liked to frolic and play and jump and bite playfully and paw at everything, and with the pug's big buggy eyes, it was too dangerous. Don't get me wrong, if we hadn't found a good place for her, we'd have kept her and just made it work somehow, but this seemed like a good opportunity. So the other day we met up with the vice-president of this rescue(It's a major rescue operation that covers several states)and gave her the dog. We were very sad to have left her, hoping we'd done the right thing. Hours after we left, though, a family with three kids who'd just lost their lab to old age came in and saw her, and fell in love. They filled out the adoption paperwork, and after she gets spayed and gets her shots, she's going to her new home! I'm so happy!

She's a sweet girl, and very, very smart, and she'll make a GREAT dog for this family!

Awww! That's a lovely story. Well done NM. I really hope the family enjoy their new puppy:)

Great work, Nerdius. We need more Threads like this with good news. :bolian:

My parents found a dog at a supermarket wandering around aimlessly and apparently very sick.. they took him in, cleaned him up and he did well with their german shepherd so they kept him.

He is so small he almost vanishes besides the big one but he doesn't take crap from him and retaliates every time when the other oversteps his boundaries. He's a scoundrel.. always sneaking out and returning whenever he wants (my dad tried to close every loophole but he still finds a way out).

However you can't be mad at him for long when he looks at you that way and they constantly compete for the affection of my parents :)

I'm so thrilled that this story ended happily! That's wonderful that you took the dog to a Rescue. It's always nice to know that people do indeed care about animals, and you seem to be the type that really cares. For that, I'm grateful. Some people especially in our neighborhood, don't give a rat's ass about their dogs and let them roam freely. One got into one lady's house one day and she ended up moving away because of it! The parents could care less about their pets and children and let both of them wonder free. I think our board of trustees should know about this situation!
