I'm happy to see the KDF progress moving along. At this point, I've just been contributing willy-nilly, but is it better to focus on one thing at a time, or...?

Yup. Its best to focus on the three main "Active Projects" as each project gives 1000xp. Special Projects only give 15xp and really are meant for for large fleets with surplus members wanting to contribute

seeing as we are half way to a Tier 1 shipyard and I believe a Tier 1 Starbase are we planning any special event to commemorate the big upgrade?

I think once we get closer to it we can setup an event to commemorate the opening of our fully functional starbase.

At the rate we're progressing, it should take at the maximum two more days to build our starbase.

I haven't got the same level of resources on my KDF character as on my Fed because I neglected him for so long. But I'm trying to give them equal time now, so I can help with the other base too. I rejigged my BOff skills on the KDF toon and have actually managed to get comfortable with my My Negh'Var. Just trying to get him decently equipped now with gear.

Yeah, I hate to say it, but my KDF toon pretty much lies dormant, and unused.
Also, is there a limit to how much you can contribute? Sometimes I'll be contributing officers or materiel, and the contribute button will go grey. I log out and log back in and it's still grey, even if I have plenty of both to spare.

Each project only requires a certain amount of each resource. When enough resources have been contributed, the button will be greyed out. However it takes several repeats of the same project to build up the starbase, so keep those resources around for the next round of projects.

Now that some fleets have built a tier 1 starbase, I am hearing reports of the starbase's impressive firepower in fleet events.

Is your fleet rank cadet? Cadets don't have permission to contribute to projects.

Why don't cadets have that permission? I don't think that there is a way to abuse the system for contributors since the fleet wins with every bit of resource spent.
Just access to limited store item should be reserved for full membership.

I can't change the settings for Cadets, but what I have done is promote Squiggy's character to Crewman.

I guess in a larger fleet, the concern would be that a cadet is 'poaching' the Fleet credits that other members need a chance to contribute. Thought they stay with you, so you could rack up a lot by joining a fleet, putting in cheap junk that earns a bunch of points, then going to another fleet.

Not awful, as you're still donating, but for the 'easy' categories to fill, you could get a lot of credits, and prevent 'real' fleet members from being able to donate them.

To be honest, there was no big reason why cadets can't contribute, as I was just getting to grips with the fleet permission for the starbase construction projects and happened to set them that way. I don't see a reason now why they couldn't be opened up to cadets and will do so tonight.
