A question about last night episode.

It showed that the dome was semi-porous in that trace amounts of water can seep through the dome. If that is so shouldn't sound be able to get through much easier than it does?

The pores or micro fine, so small amoutns of water and air can get in, but anything more solid, like the smoke from the fire, gets trapped either in or out.

The dome has to vibrate in order to transmit any kind of sound. I'm assuming it doesn't vibrate at all.

Another premise that only works if you accept that a wizard did it, and doesn't have to follow physics...

Well, in this case, as far as we know, a wizard did do it. Not like it's supposed to be a plausible near future technology or anything.

Haven't read the book or watched the series, but the general premise is reminiscent of Arch Oboler's The Bubble (1966). Except that The Bubble was a low-budget, really boring, REALLY bad movie.

I'm really unimpressed with most of the acting so far. It ranges from terrible to serviceable.

Most of the water that hits one side stays on that side. It's not pouring through to the other side. There aren't huge holes in the thing that turn it into a sprinkler.

But it didn't.

And should be able to hear sound through it if both air and water can get through.

Air and water filtered through tiny holes in tiny amounts is not going to carry enough sound for any normal human being to hear, which means the only way you're going to hear anything through the stupid dome is if the dome itself transmits the sound. And it doesn't.

Agreed. Dean Norris and Jeff Fahey were the only ones who interested me and now one of them is gone.

I couldn't help but laugh when the priest screwed up when he moved the trash can near the curtains which led to the fire. Damn, what a moron!

My son, who is nowhere near a genius. quickly commented that a fire wouldn't flare up that quickly without an accelerate. I asked him "What experience have you had with such matters?"

One thought I forgot to mention in my review: I know it's a small town in Maine, but does it have any kind of sewer system? Was this addressed at all in the book?

Can't remember if sewers were specifically mentioned in the book but I do recall reading that the military/gov. types figured out the the Dome wasn't a dome at all but, rather, was a sphere. Even underground structures would be cut off at the sphere wall

This show should have been called "Under the Stephen King Trope Generator." First two episodes weren't *too* bad, but I see the series going down-hill and fast. Biggest problem I have right now is with the rapey teenage kid. Was that a plot thread we really needed in the show?

I have never read the book but i have read online that

Spoiler: origins of the dome

aliens youngsters were responsible for the dome and they created the dome so that the town could be their version of an ant farm. One of the human residents then manages to convince one of the alien youngsters to take pity and bring down the dome.

The ending sounds stupid to me. I do hope they change the ending in the TV series.
