Admiral, the producers have already said the ending is different than the one in the book and even King himself signed off and approved. He wished he'd thought of their ending for the book. But alas, if ratings hold this will become a yearly summer series so we will see.

Did not realize that. Thank you.

Anyone else getting a strong Jo Lupo vibe from the deputy? Even the voice is similar.

Crazy Junior: bog standard crazy character from a Sephen King book. It's almost a trope at this point.

He said that about The Mist as well, perhaps he should get other people to write his endings. Kind of wish he'd done that with The Dark Tower.

I came into this with no knowledge of the book, and I really enjoyed it.

Actually the actress played a uniformed cop on Body of Proof last season, so the vibe I get from her is that she's doomed to play cops.

She has a similar voice, a little gravelly like she's been screaming for a couple hours.

Decent episode and the characters certainly scream Stephen King. Dean Norris and Jeff Lahey are the main draw for me and, unfortunately, are really the only two characters I really connected to (although the deputy is fairly cool). I could've done without the creepy psycho son but oddly I prefer him this way over the generic "jealous boyfriend" type that I thought he was originally going to be.

I'll stick around for a few more episodes, but I still worry the show will slip into the soapy melodramatic bullshit that plagued Jericho.

Yup, I definitely got that vibe her, too. She's not as sassy or gungho as Jo, but Deputy Esquivel (damn, that doesn't roll off the tongue like Deputy Lupo does) has picked up some of Jo's other good qualities.

I missed the last season of that show. Lost interest after I read they were dumping half the cast. how was it?

I thought that Body of Proof improved after getting rid of the annoying cop characters. Mark Valley was a much better replacement.

The first episode will be rerun tonight on CBS for those that missed the episode last Monday.

^^^I hope they keep doing that. Monday nights i have to choose between this and Longmire. Last week I had to stay up till midnight and catch the Longmire repeat. This way, I can still catch Dome and get some sleep.

Is it also being replayed on the CBS website?

One thought I forgot to mention in my review: I know it's a small town in Maine, but does it have any kind of sewer system? Was this addressed at all in the book?

Not really, though power and water were affected by the dome and talked about.

Someone is going to get paid to accept buckets of shit from every house, and then get paid again to hand those puckets of shit over tot he farmers for compost.

How long till money means nothing?

Actually because of the arrangement I just described above, a bucket of shit could well become a recognizable unit of currency.

    Is propane code for meth?

    Shhh...spoilers!

I liked this last episode. It looks Big Jim's gonna be that type of lucky villain. Something in a house that he doesn't want found, the house burns down and he demolishes it and comes out the hero!

I know they're extending the length of time of the series from the couple weeks of the novel to a few months for the series (with each episode representing approximately one or two days at most), but if they're planning a dramatically different ending for the series from that of the book, they sure seem to be foreshadowing roughly the same events between...

the kids having the seizures and talking about the "pink stars falling in lines," and the massive buildup of [Hank Hill] propane and propane accessories [/Hank Hill].
That being said, I like that they have made some changes to the characters and events so far (mainly with a couple characters who were killed off right away now still remaining alive, and some other biographical changes) and hope that they do make a major change to the ending. Not because I hated the novel ending, but because I'd like to have some surprises along the way.

    Yep.

Guess I wasn't paying attention, but did it say in the tv series that it was Maine? Wasn't looking for real clues as to location, and just had more of a 'random midwest town' vibe.

Basically, Maine doesn't look much like that. Looked too flat and opened up, more of a Smallville feel than anything. Can't quite describe it, it's just wrong :)

Obviously, it's a Stephen King book, so it's in Maine, but the visual look of the show is just off. Despite being filmed in 'generic Vancouver forests', Once Upon a Time comes closer in that regard.
