STC: To Boldly Indiegogo

I'm wondering if corporate donations will raise a red flag? CBS may think that they are worth going after because of their deep money pits. Corporations could be dinged by knowingly contributing to a project that illegally uses CBS's IP. It's weird because nothing is written in stone, but when you get big players with loads of money, things need to be set in stone.

Corporations usually want something like free advertising. It depends on how the donation was handled and what they wanted in return for it. I think they came after Axanar because of the Studio for Profit, the absolute mismanagement of fans funds, and in your face we are making a studio quality Star Trek film. If STC keeps doing what they have been doing I doubt they will get any unwanted attention.

Posted this pic a few days ago. Uptick in donations towards the end of the campaign is likely to be minimal. It was for us:

For Kickstarter on STR episode 1 and now 2, there was a major surge in donations at the end of the campaign. Your chart shows a surge to get the last 30k in the last couple days. The graph is pretty typical, showing a good start, and leveling off in the middle with some type of surge at the end. Surges at the end vary from campaign to campaign.

There was a mighty effort at the end of Kirkstarter 2.0 to get that seventh episode covered, although it fell short of that.

In an email to backers they've released a still image from Ep. 7. Nothing exciting other than seeing Kirk and Spock in the midst of what looks like a toast to some moment or occasion.

This touches on what I referred to earlier upthread. It's all very nice, but it's not something that generates any serious buzz.

I can see AP spoiling the milk for new donors, who feel cheated, or hardcore Axanar fans who only have eyes for Axanar, however, I would imagine educated donors would continue with their established habits, while groups that have historically demonstrated their value would still have their core patrons and angels.

I wonder what the affinity rate of STC and Axanar is, and I wonder what side non-repeat donors fall on (Cheated, or now Axanar only fans, or other reasons) fall on.

At their current rate they are going to fall woefully short of their basic target of $350,000 even with some sort of modest surge near the end.

I know Vic has publically said he's okay with that, but if I were them I'd be brainstorming some ways to generate added buzz. Also once there's an official Trek series in production to be seen and if it's received favourably then it could get even more difficult to raise funds for a fan production no matter how well it's generally regarded.

Hopefully we will see a new video or two beginning with the last 30 days of the drive. I still would like to see it extended to cover EP6 release time to help with the added attention. As for the new series that is not going to debut until Jan of 2017 and depending on what time period it is set in may impact funding drives in the future.

STC has created a Facebook "event" for its Indiegogo campaign and is encouraging everyone to "invite" friends.

I guess perks really do matter. They recently offered 20 Challenge Coins at the $75 level and they sold out in a matter of hours. The coins had Michael Forest's (Apollo) profile on the heads and the "E" on the Tail. I don't know the price of minting those, but keep them coming, (I know, but they were minted under the authority of the "UFP", ok ..?)
