Talked to a fan today who knows about STC but did not know about the Indiegogo or the 501c news. Not sure what else they could do to get the word out. A blurb at the beginning of EP6 might help.

I guess word of mouth is really important for the occasional viewers who don't always keep up with stuff. I've been telling people I know who don't really check in on STC.

They have finally cracked six figures, two-sevenths of their primary goal.

Now that they've finally crossed the $100,000 threshold we begin watching for them to reach the $200,000 mark.

Even with an extended deadline I think they really need to step up their efforts to generate interest and support. At present I'm skeptical of them reaching $350,000 let alone any stretch goals.

Well at least with Indiegogo you can keep it if you don't meet the goal. At worse,it one or 2 less episodes, or maybe a final-final crowd funding campaign down the road.

How much does it cost to make his fan films? Does the money cover a multiple of films or just one?

I heard it cost about $50,000 to make an episode, but that mightn't include other necessary expenses.

I think it's more like 70-80,000 per episode, but since they bought out Farragut's share of the sets they are responsible for all the rent and utilities on the building, which are substantial.

One thing that may raise their profile is that they've just been nominated for a Webby Award.

Why did they do that? STC sets look impressive. I would love for Exeter to return using Vic's accurate sets.

Farragut decided they wanted to switch to doing movie-era Trek instead of TOS, so they sold out their share to STC. Don't know what the current situation is with Exeter or anyone else who used to use the sets.

Just voted and so far they have 51% of the vote out of 5 nominees.

Just ticked over to 30% funded.

I couldn’t resist getting the sickbay pillow with the brown-golden material.

The first episode I ever watched was “The White Iris” which starts with a sickbay scene, and I remember being impressed that they even had the original bedcovers. That was long before I saw the bridge or anything else. So, this has some special memory for me.

They actually had that material custom-woven for STC. Great idea using the leftovers for those pillows!

I know that now but not at the time. It just blew me away as I certainly hadn’t expected it. I had come in trying to keep an open mind and was fully prepared to overlook some minor things for the sake of fun. One reason was, that I was a fairly new Star Trek fan and wouldn’t have probably noticed anyway, and the other that when I set up scenes with my action figures I also have to do compromises and make do with what I have available and I actually don’t care if it is not perfect, as long as one can recognize what it is supposed to mean.

So if I can overlook wobbly planet sets in TOS, I certainly can overlook the brown color being just close enough. But it was perfect, and it is the one detail that changed it all for me. My expectations suddenly became much higher. Then Bones said something like “… that stubborn head of yours” and I threw all skepticism towards fanmade stuff out of the window.

That's what was reported, anyway. "Nope" is completely unhelpful.

Vic Mignogna issues distress call for Star Trek Continues.

I hope a lot of people are sitting on the sidelines due to the length of the campaign. I for one have thought about buying a few T-shirts but hey I still have a month and being the procrastinator that I am why do it now? :)
