STC: To Boldly Indiegogo

Thanks Mr. Smith
I think Will is correct. These "Mk IIA" phasers were designed by Scott Nakada before STC arrived in the scene. They are like the ones used on STC--not the actual screen used props themselves.

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same thing, but in my own personal canon, "Where No Man Has Gone Before" would more or less be the finale of the first "Year" / Season, with the aired seasons being 2-4, and the animated show + fan shows being 5.

It makes more sense, to me at least, for WNMHGB to be the beginning of the the five year mission, or the last mission before the long-term five year mission, the first year of the five years unseen, and then the rest as you describe it. At least it makes more sense to me that way.

I just don't think it could be the beginning of the mission, or the last mission before the long term one.... it seems like this crew has served together for awhile; there is a familiarity already between them, beyond the Mitchell/Kirk history. My perspective has always been this: If we had watched 20 episodes of Mitchell, Lee Kelso, the other doctor, etc.... how huge and impactful would that episode have been.... emotionally, for the remaining characters.... and what a great Season Finale it would have made. :)

Of course I don't know from stardates, but it seems to me as if WNM could be around the middle of the first year of the mission and the rest of season 1 some months later. As Honda used to say, "it just feels right."

What were we talking about again?

Middle of the first year could still be the end of the first season, with the remainder of the first year and cosmetic changes happening over an off season break.

Now I want a fan series starring the cast of WNMHGB, dammit! We make such a big deal about finishing the mission.... well how bout someone film the BEGINNING of it! :D

I still think they missed the boat on Trek 2009... considering how early it is set, I always thought using an older version of the crew that they could take any narrative choices with, would have worked a lot better. After watching Quinto play the telekinetic killer Sylar, I completely wanted him to play Gary Mitchell, not Spock...

Ahh, but Trek '09 was not meant for the diehard fans. It was a cool Sci-Fi flick targeted at the general audience. So it needed to feature the imagery of Trek, that the non-fans have and that is the classic crew of the latter 78 episodes.

I keep hearing this and it still doesn't make any less a piece of shit.

Back to the original thread. How is the Indiegogo fund raiser going? I wonder if they will post more videos like the last Kirkstarter with some type on theme? Also, more and different perks? Still early and seems on track to raise the goal since I am sure a lot of fans wait until the end to actually contribute.

Last I checked they were on pace (if maintained) to make their target by the end of the month. The drive is set to go two months so they could exceed their target by a good margin.

For what it's worth, here's a graph of our STNV 2015 Kickstarter campaign. The donation trend was fairly consistent during the course of the campaign. There was a little higher level of donation at the outset of the campaign, and a tiny uptick right at the end. But mostly, these upticks were nothing to scream about.

New STC podcast on Trek Geeks: http://trekgeeks.com/archives/2921
There are some teaser tidbits in this podcast.
Sorry if this seems like my ''Bash STC day'', but I listened to the podcast you quoted above, and if Mignona actually teased ANYTHING about their next episode, apart from saying ''the next one will be super amazing and will have something no other fan film has ever done!!''...well, I sure didn't find it...
And for a guy who in the past always seemed to be positive about his own production and was above putting down others, well he blew it this time with his barely-veiled repeated potshots at Cawley productions. I was listening to it and distinctly heard myself saying: ''what an asshole!'' Was it because since he couldn't really reveal anything specific about his next webisode apart from it featuring the engineering section, he still had 45 minutes to fill up so let's slam the competition?
I even snorted after it was all over and one of the hosts gushed: ''it was great having Mignona again, as he's always a class act''.
Do these bozos even know what a class act does?

Something seen or referenced in TOS before, but not done in a fan production.

A set seen in TOS' first season recreated for their production, apart from the Engineering set.

A notable writer tasked with writing the two-part finale.

The strong implication that all the remaining stories are basically set (at least in general terms).

Setting the stage for where the characters end up in TMP.

Releasing stills from the forthcoming episode.

Sounds like the very definition of teasers to me.

He's also right that there is no counter argument to whatever CBS decides to do or not do in regards to their IP.

The gushing of the hosts/fans is not unexpected in these things. I sort of wanted to gag over the remarks regarding "The White Iris" given I think it was their weakest episode.
