STC: To Boldly Indiegogo

$70 before you get a digital download of the episode. A dvd is $200!! Yoiks!

They keep offering the same scripts as if it's this super-cool thing. As a filmmaker myself, I enjoy seeing other people's scripts for this kind of project, but it's not exactly a world-beating perk. But what do I know -- they will make this goal easily, and continue to make excellent episodes.

On a side note just wondering what fans think of the rewards offered in the lndiegogo fund raiser?
I really don’t care about reading scripts so when I donate I am going to opt out of the perks. I think that the donation level for an early download should be a little lower, but then again they do release it to backers quite early. At the end of the day I don’t think that I have ever donated to a project for the perks, but simply because I want to support them.

I respect STC's sense of planning. They set out with a reasonably clear and realistic goal in mind and have stuck to it.

If contributions maintain their present pace (if, mind you) they could reach their stretch goal by the end of the month. And given the drive is running for two months they shouldn't have any problems at all reaching their goals.

That said I wonder what plans they might have if they exceed their goals by a sizable margin. Would that translate into more put into each planned production or possibly more episodes to fill out the final run?

I too would like to see them exceed their goal and produce more episodes. But, I wonder since everyone involved is a volunteer just how many more episodes could they reasonably produce in the 2 -3 years they planned on?

The only perks I care about are the 1/2 or full days on set, but those are way out of my league.

I agree totally. I have to think with the price of this perk dropped their could be a lot more interest. This may be the only chance fans have to ever watch Star Trek being made and interact with the cast in a non convention setting. Too bad its out of reach of most folks.

If, for example, they get exactly enough money for six episodes, I could see them finishing the 13 and calling it quits. That being a possibility, the best chance for extra episodes is probably if this campaign works out to 4 episodes. Then any overage on their final fundraiser could translate into one or two extra episodes.

Still, I can imagine problems with too many extra people on set.

^^ But I understood this is to be their final fundraiser.
I thought so too, until I realized they're only going for 3 or 4 episodes. Vic is still saying that 13 is their ultimate goal, so I'm assuming they've decided to split the fundraiser in twain. They've dropped the "Final Kirkstarter" language as well.

I agree unless you have someone dedicated to managing that full time and giving them a great experience. One person can handle 4 people easy if it's the right person.

Somebody is selling one of the STC nu-phaser props on ebay. I don't think a direct link is allowed, but just search "Star Trek Phaser MKIIA" on ebay.

They're great-looking props, but out of my price range right now. They should have offered one of these as a perk! Now that would get me excited. :p

I'm less than impressed by that prop. Definitely don't see it being worth $450.

Well, I'm the prop master for STC and I can tell you that it did not come from our set and was not used in any of our episodes. I'm looking into it.

Well I was just going to suggest we ask the "man" since this seems counter to STC and guess what he has already waded in on it.

The phaser did not come from STC but was built by the same prop maker. The listing is a little misleading because it makes it sound like it was used during filming of STC which it was not. Still a nice prop.

I was also surprised to hear that completing the 5 year mission will only take 13 episodes. Once I understood that producing 6 more episodes will take at least 3 years, and year one of the mission has a single episode, then it makes more sense.

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same thing, but in my own personal canon, "Where No Man Has Gone Before" would more or less be the finale of the first "Year" / Season, with the aired seasons being 2-4, and the animated show + fan shows being 5.

Ah, good to know, and definitely a distinction that should have been made in the description.

I believe he originally listed it at $650, but reduced the price over the course of the auction. It has been "edited" several times. :/
