Netflix would just take the rights to Star Trek, as in all of it (or atleast CBS owned TV rights)? Depending who you ask Star Trek franchise is worth at-least couple billion dollars. Sorry, CBS is not "giving" it Netflix. Netflix my license it (like they currently do), but it will be CBS property for foreseeable future. That site seems like bullshit, they pretty much renewed the show after the debut. At worst, I imagine Netflix would just take the rights and go with it.
Doug Fitz is not "rumors"I've heard rumours Netflix have passed.

If CBS sees All Access as a failure, they will have couple choices in regards to STD. Either cancel it altogether or switch it to broadcast TV. I suppose syndication is still a thing too, but if they have two 15 episode seasons, that will be a hard sell.
I'm saying Netflix could start putting it on Netflix US rather than buying it outright. Trek is already entirely on Netflix in many countries, including a few of the movies and all the TV.
The entire series is paid for by CBS! That they are recouping tnat cost by selling international streaming rights to Netflix doesn't change that. From everything I've seen, season 2 is already paid for by Netflix.
Distinction without a difference. The entire series is paid for by CBS! That they are recouping tnat cost by selling international streaming rights to Netflix doesn't change that.
Saying "paid for by Netflix" implies their money is a reason the show is made, that's not the case.
What I don't understand is why they need so long for S2. If it really is 2019 it will be a full year from now or more. S1 has been done filming for months and they knew they had a green light for s2 back in the fall. They don't plan to drop all eps at once so it is more than feasible to get a 13 episode season half through post production by September with the second half done by January. Have they not done a single thing in working towards s2 yet?
Yeah but they film a whole bunch of them basically at once with the sets they have.I read in an interview that each episode takes about 6 months total to do. It’s a long lead time.

Do not forget that viewership numbers likely do not include Netflix overseas, nor the pirated views. Talking All Access only.
Of course the show that is NOT available on broadcast TV will have fewer viewers. Duh.
This article is a very interesting, albeit unsurprising read, assuming most of it's reasonably accurate, and I see no reason why it isn't.

I suspect that within a few months, STD will be offered to just about any channel that'll take it. And as for season 2, I don't know who's going to fund it. I've heard rumours Netflix have passed.
If it is doing as well as it seems to be doing on Netflix, not a chance. Why would they mothball Trek again instead of selling it to Netflix?
