State of Science Fiction (TV/Movies) in 2024

If one is into older Japanese anime space opera, Space Battleship Yamato is starting its third remake season starting in July (Be Forever, Yamato: Rebel 3199).
So that would be first the 26 episode series Yamato 2199. Followed by the film Ark of the Stars.
Than is the 26 episode second series Yamato 2202. Followed by the Age of Yamato documentary style film and the eight episode Yamato 2205 (a pair of films that are four episodes each).
Now starts Rebel 3199 which will be a 26 episode series (set in the year 2207)

Netflix's 3 Body Problem is an excellent example of good ol hard sci-fi, but at the same time it's the only sci-fi I really connected with recently.

I think one thing that could be contributing to a decline might be the streaming services themselves. There are just too many of them. For example, I liked Snowpiercer and watched all 3 seasons while it was available on Netflix, but I won't be watching season 4, because I'm sorry, I'm not signing up for another streaming service just to view that. It's no wonder so many of these series get cancelled.

I've been interested in 3 Body Problem. I know nothing about it or the books, but I added it to my queue. Right now I'm watching Arcane and enjoying it even though I'm two episodes in. 3 Body Problem might become late summer viewing for me. I'm always interested in new TV recommendations (Not Doctor Who or Star Wars though).
