Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

I would personally like more alien names, but I appreciate they’ve clearly made more of an effort than during the TOS or TNG eras when Starfleet ships were usually just named after WW2 US Navy vessels.

A quick comparison between the series bridge of the E-D and the new one...

In the photo of the original it's clear that the dome in the top of the ship is a hole that reveals a light source and the rest of the studio but I believe this hole was not there when filming so that while light would not have been visible. As the for the walls looking 'too yellow' and 'not beige enough' it's pretty damn close and I would see the red carpet is much darker on the new one than the original. Let's all stop complaining about it and appreciate the time money, research and effort that went into making this replacement bridge and truly how close and faithful it is to the original. In my opinion the new one is superior. It's made of the superior materials and better tech available as of 2022 compared to 1987. It doesn't have to be a perfect replica but they made the effort to make it better than the original and more robust. They must have a plan to use this set after season 3 is over because to destroy or dismantle it would be offensive the sentiment of Season 3 and it's fans. Long live the big D!!

Hollywood has destroyed sets far more valuable, both monetarily and sentimentally. Storage is extremely expensive. Perhaps it will be sold off to an interested party. Otherwise, expect it to be binned.

Dave Blass says it is safely stored at the Star Trek Archive. Wherever that is. CBS has a storage area of old props, blueprints stuff that they haven't lost, sold off or destroyed.
Also mentioned there were several parties interested in it.

Only people who visited both sets would know that for sure - the colours could be closer to the original in person but todays camera technology shows it differently in video and photos.

I love this Bridge, I did admittedly have a time where I liked the Generations refit more, but this one feels like home and I would agree with Geordi returning her Bridge to the layout he spent most of his time working on vs the season 1 or Generations versions.

Shared this on another thread too but it's applicable here also. I'm amazed at the accuracy here. Working in construction it's nearly impossible to match materials (stains, carpet, upholstery, paint) within 18 months of construction.....much less 30+ years! It's wild that they were able to pull this off and it be so dang close to the original TNG set.

No doubt it is safe and sound in storage, for now. But give it enough time... if nobody wants it, and if the prospect of using it on a show are next to nil, they'll shred it without a second thought. Or auction it off, bit by bit.

The only noticeable differences: The door to the conference room may be a few inches more to the right, and the Conn and Ops (?) consoles are about 6" higher. A minor difference in front of the dome as well and the red part of the carpet isn't quite as wide or the front consoles are set a wee bit further apart.
