Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

The second pic almost has a good view, but alas, too dark

What I assume is the warp core ejection point is clear, but it looks like 6 box shaped sections behind that.
Since it’s a modified Shangri-La it probably looks pretty close to this

I just don't know from the shot we have of the underside. No doubt there's something there, and they've referred to multiple bays.
USS Shangri-La vs USS Titan A 1a1.jpg

Perhaps the fact that Captain Ransom somewhat redeemed himself at the end gave Janeway just enough wiggle room to fudge her report.
Sacrificing himself at the end was probably enough for Star Fleet to condemn his actions but justify the ships ignoble end as heroic.
It was, after all dragged to the Delta Quadrant against its Captain's will.
Since Janeway was promoted to Admiral and apparently not punished for torturing a Starfleet officer, she must've left things out in those log entries ;)

Can't say I'm a fan of the fact they can't fire their torpedoes straight ahead without taking out the lower sensor dome. Seems to be a bit of a design flaw that they themselves added when they "25th centurized" the design.

It’s like that on the shangri-La MK2 as well. It wasn’t an issue added with the Connie-3

torpedos can make turns, so it’s not really an issue

We’ll have to wait and see if they use them this season. It has phaser arrays strips too.

The Lakota still had its original phaser banks but appeared to fire 24th century style phaser beams that gave trouble for the Defiant. Same with all the other Excelsiors and Mirandas in DS9.

Not saying it's a serious problem, but it does stand out to me as the only example of a canon Starship design that obstructs its torpedo launchers. I mean, yes, the torpedoes are guided, but it just adds an unnecessary complication.

Looks much nicer as a TMP era ship.
Someone will probably give me a "good reason" but I think it's daft that the Titan A clearly has 23rd century phaser banks.
It's "retro". Plus it has short phaser strips, top & bottom on the left & right. Not sure what that gray section is at the front of the saucer. Looks too wide to be a phaser strip.

Or the Torpedo Tubes are canted slightly off of dead ahead by 5°-15° Port/StarBoard respectively for each tube.

Every Torpedo fired looks like their doing a wide angle turn and curving to their target

Pointy, pointy, big teeth...

The Shrike. Looks like a beetle to me but effective enough.

My only real criticism...is this season 1 TNG? Why does its size seem to alternate from smaller to larger than the Titan?

Well, 23rd century in external appearance. Clearly not in function.

Both the Akira and the much older NX classes have almost precisely the same plasma supercharger hull shapes on their catamarans and perhaps both serve the same primary purpose, but there's no way the 2370s ships can have THE same devices as the 2150s vessels.

Well, obviously, and it's fun for me as a fan of retro design language. But that doesn't mean others won't find the retro rationale "daft."
