Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

There's a Defiant class and Intrepid class in the end credits, and there's a Sovereign class flying around outside Spacedock.

Season 2 Episodes 1 and 10 had several Sovereign Classes, and we saw a Steamrunner and Nova Class in Episode 2.

They have the rights to use everything from the movies and shows.
Yep, and Prodigy had Defiants and Centaurs too, so it's clearly not licencing.

Considering that Paramount Global owns both the current Star Trek shows and the 1990s Star Trek shows outright, I'm not sure who they would even "license" it from. Themselves? They own it all lock, stock, and barrel. If we're not seeing the same starship classes we saw as in the 1990s, it's either a technical or financial factor (not having usable computer models of the ships and not having the budget to build one), or an intentional creative decision.

It seems that they (producers) don't have licence to show us some of 90s Federation ships in Star Trek Picard. Only Star Trek Online ships + Akira.

I mean it would be really nice to see Defiant class or Galaxy class or Nebula class.
Sovereigns fly with the F in the latest trailer. S2 had a (confed) Nova and Steamrunner.

Still pissed it's not the Luna..

Voyager B? So I looks like someone's going to wreak the Voyager A then?

Probably no plans for the Voyager-A's fate. I'd expect, as with the Titan being intended to be the one-and-only only to realize a different version had already been established on LDS, the ship on the screen was going to be the Voyager-A, then someone jumped on the grenade and mentioned that PRO was doing a Voyager-A and it'd be best not to step on their toes.

Also spotted what appears to be a Crossfield Class, or variant on the Frontier Day posters. It doesn't seem to have the cutouts in the saucer..

Looks like it could be the STO 25th century Glenn Class.

Don't embed images from wikis, it won't work.

Either way the one in my image doesn't appear to have gaps in the saucer.
The image almost... almost looks like one of the Mike Minor refit Enterprise images out there, just with flatter pylons. It certainly has a POTT Enterprise shape to it.

So is the Shangri La Class canon now with the introduction of the Titan-A? It makes zero sense that it's a "refit" Luna class ship. I would see it as a rebuilding of a Shangri La class with possibly components or space frame elements from the original Titan.

The Shangri-la is canon - it appears on the conference room wall.

But the Titan-A is 560m long, to the Shangri-la's 295m, so it's not a reuse of the original components. It's a brand new ship designed to evoke the 23rd century ship.

That's a strange run of logic there.

The ship could still contain reused components and materials broken down from the old ship.

Totally. I have no problem buying that it contains the guts of Riker's Titan, I'm just saying the exterior hull is probably not reused from Saavik's ship because it's 30% larger.

Clearly they made it look something like the 23rd century ship, but it's newer and bigger.

So, do we know for sure that Rikers Titan didn't contain materials from Saavik's?
