Not really, to me. Not when viewed in light of starship lineage from the NX-01, to the USS Kelvin and through to the Constitution refit.Indeed. They really do look like they could be early 25th Century ships, don't they?

that's the thing, they look like fine precursors to the ships of the 23rd century... of the kelvin timeline. not that i'm complaining, i like that look. Not really, to me. Not when viewed in light of starship lineage from the NX-01, to the USS Kelvin and through to the Constitution refit.
I'm not sure how, they don't look like anything from the Kelvin Timeline.that's the thing, they look like fine precursors to the ships of the 23rd century... of the kelvin timeline. not that i'm complaining, i like that look.
I'd love to see Doug Drexler design some ships for PIC. He did a great job with past ships in the franchise like the NX-01 and the Conestoga from 2069.

They really do. I'd say they look better than most of the original 24th Century stuff, besides the Intrepid-class.They really don't.
They have nothing in common with the 24th century designs, and they look older. They really do. I'd say they look better than most of the original 24th Century stuff, besides the Intrepid-class.
Of course, the Defiant can kick all their asses. It's just not pretty.![]()
I guess I don't see it or am willfully blind or something else or another...Because of the complete randomness to the designs, some of the DSC ships look like they fit in the time period (the Engle class is very reminiscent of the NX-01), some look like they’d fit in better post-TUC (the Crossfield and Hoover classes come to mind) and some look like they wouldn’t have stood out too much as part of the Sector 001 fleet in ST:FC (the Cardenas class). The Kelvin timeline ships, on the other hand, are both more believable precursors to TOS time period, and their designs are pretty consistent with each other.
Such an ugly ship.Of course, the Defiant can kick all their asses. It's just not pretty
It would make more sense to get older ships going then to take the time to build a whole new fleet to rescue everyone.I like that, but they could also be reusing old ships from various junkyards as evacuation ships.
Using old ships means that the Romulan's on board can't steal or learn about the Federations latest technology.
They should have let him design the Disco ships. I'm sure he could have managed something that looks halfway between ENT and TOS and still looks cool. (Except not that horrific NX-01 refit. That is an abomination.)I'd love to see Doug Drexler design some ships for PIC. He did a great job with past ships in the franchise like the NX-01 and the Conestoga from 2069.
They have his hallmark sharp angular features and cutouts. Eaves makes amazing Klingon ships, his style fits them really well.Eh? If someone told me the DSC designs weren't done by Eaves I'd believe them. None of them look like anything he had done before Discovery.
Be aware - he did work on Star Trek Discovery ship designs as well.Yes, his official website says so:

They really don’t. They look nothing like his previous federation designs. They have his hallmark sharp angular features and cutouts.
I’m not seeing the issue here.Be aware - he did work on Star Trek Discovery ship designs as well.
Now, that's just crazy talk.Perhaps the handwringing can wait until after the premier![]()
That you don't see it doesn't mean it isn't there. They really don’t. They look nothing like his previous federation designs.
I don’t see it because it doesn’t exist.That you don't see it doesn't mean it isn't there.
There is, you're just looking the details and not the overall style. Also, he has done quite a bit of non-canon Trek designs too. If you have seen some of them it becomes easier to see the overall pattern.I don’t see it because it doesn’t exist.
I look at the sovereign (his only24th century Starfleet design), and I look at his DSC stuff, there is nothing there connecting them.
My eyes!
