Stargate Universe SPOILERS!!

Re: Stargate Universe Good or BAD?

Gotta say, I'm disappointed. This premise is pretty much exactly what I was really, really hoping SGU wouldn't be. I was never keen on the Star Treky bits of Stargate, I never thought they did them well. Remember the good old days of Within the Serpent's Grasp when just that they were on a ship was fascinating and different?
This smacks of tired old format, stupidly unrealistic spaceship plus team of the same characters with different actors, yet again.

I can usually muster up enthusiasm about a project at least until it proves itself awful, but I'm completely underwhelmed by this one already.

Re: Stargate Universe Good or BAD?

^^ Same here. Sounds like a horrible concept. I'll still watch the pilot, but I doubt even the die-hard fans are getting excited over this.

BTW, did anyone else actually think "Stargate: Infinity," had a pretty cool premise? True it was aimed at three-year-olds, but the actual plot/characters were a lot more interesting/creative than what we got with SG:A and apparently SG:U...

True, the die hard fans much rather have another team going through the gate week after week rehashing the same characters story lines and bad guys.

At least give the show a chance, and I agree with the public knowing about the Stargate, but don't think they should make a show just of that. And I'm amazed by how many people here think the Stargate should come out. When I was on Gateworld awhile ago now most people never wanted the Stargate to come out because then it would take place in "our world", whatever that means.

What the creators should do is end Atlantis, next season, the year after or the year after that, just end it. Then worry about a new show for awhile.

This new show could then deal with the ship and have 132,975,957 ZPMs on the ship. :) I do not want this to be like "Oh we only have enough power to make it to the ship" and are stuck on the ship like Atlantis. So this way they can go back to Earth and we can see as the Stargate program come sout. Two in one. :)

Re: Stargate Universe Good or BAD?

How big of a "Project Arcturus" would one need to blow up a galaxy? I am thinking a chamber the size of a moon would do it quite nicely, talk about you doomsday weapons!!!

As long as the blast wave propigated at the speed of light, you would have around 50,000 years to evacuate the home planet.

Nope.

According to David Nykl's (he plays Zelenka) blog, he's in 2 of the first 4 episodes.

They really need to strand Rodney Somewhere or freeze him for a while to let Zelenka come to his own, though he is a good foil for McKay when sheppard is not around.

Sorry but I dont see how this is news. Does it even need spoilertagging? He's in most episodes, what's the big deal?

Because lately the Stargate fandom seems to think everyone will die if we don't hear about them, especially the recurring characters.

And believe me, this is news enough for the hardcore fans.

How is this SGU premise posted here legit? The lack of creativity makes it seem like a fanboy starting a rumor.

Welcome to the Stargate TPTB

Well, considering how often Stargate does kill recurring chaarcters...

Its legit, if you know anything about Gateworld and their relationship with the TPTB of Stargate, then you understand it true.

Though im hoping after some thought they rethink the whole idea.

And by rethink, I hope you mean throw the whole thing in the bin, and give SG a break for a while?

I'd dearly love to believe that - but unfortunately it sounds exactly what the Stargate "creative" team would come up with these days. Watched Children of the Gods and Torment of Tantalus last night. The apple has fallen very, very far from the tree.

I recently watched Poinsoning the Well and Epiphany and an apple hit me on the head.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

What worries me in particular is that, even now, we could probably predict the characters of the new show. Funny, sarcastic, acts-dumber-than-he-is military guy, stay-at-home base [now ship] commander whose a bit out of their depth but holds it together when it matters, nerdy scientist type whose expert in every field ever, alien warrior, expert on the ancients, compassionate and brilliant doctor...

And probably a good deal of the episode stories. Particularly the 'possessed by alien entity' one which crops up at least once a season.

btw, why is it always an alien warrior? It's never an alien used car salesman, is it?

Its never an Alien that sleeps around either.

Its going to be by the numbers by the same writers so expect it be a clone of Atlantis.

And you will have your hot babe and hot babes of the week too, cant forget bout them.

The story itself really isnt that bad if we had different writers but it be just like Atlantis with no real purpose and no purpose to watch and care where the story actually goes.

And seeing how Season 5 of Atlantis is playing out im sure the new team will get new members every season.
