Stargate SG-1- Good Episodes Seasons Post-Season 3?

I watched Stargate SG-1 pretty religiously for the first two seasons, dropped off in S3 but caught most of the episodes including the awesome season finale, "Nemesis," and the S4 Premiere, "Small Victories". I also caught "Watergate", "Upgrades" and another episode, "Beneath The Surface" (with Rene Auberjonois). As I have been busy watching some other shows and.....well....busy in genral, I missed out on the rest of SG-1's run and wanted to know what other seasons/episodes post-S3 are recommended viewing/download/purchase. I've been paying attention to some of the threads/comments here so I know a *little* about what has happened with the characters but I've been wanting to start watching the series again. Also, it is more worth renting or buying the rest of the series? Is there a "jump the shark" season/moment for the series? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Don't bother with anything from season 7 onwards. 7 and 8 are mildly acceptable but 9 and 10 are basically a different show, and a horribly substandard one at that.

Seasons 3, 4, 5 and 6 are considered (at least by the majority) to be the show's peak. Personally, I think all four are excellent, with a particular fondness for four five and six.

Good episodes to catch are:

Season 4: Upgrades, Crossroads, Window of Opportunity, Scorched Earth, The Serpent's Venom, 2010, Absolute Power, Entity and Exodus.

Season 5: Enemies, Threshold, Ascension, Red Sky, Between Two Fires, 2001, Proving Ground, 48 Hours, Summit, Last Stand, Menace, Meridian, Revelations

Season 6: Redemption 1 and 2, Decent, Frozen, Abyss, Cure, Prometheus, Unnatural Selection, Prophecy, Full Circle

Thanks everybody for your suggestions. Should I purchase or rent the seasons or should I just "cherry pick" and download the suggested episodes?

^Wal-Mart has been selling most of the seasons for $15, I personally would say pick them all up. With the exception of season 8, which was overall fairly lack-luster for me, I would say the whole series stayed pretty good, so it would be worth while to just grab everything. I personally thought that 9 and 10 were some of the best seasons, but YMMV on that point, especially around these parts.
