Stargate Atlantis 5x19 - 5x20 (spoilers, do not enter)

Doesn't the existence of the wormholedrive make the gates pretty useless? It also provides an easy solution for the "stranded" new team of SGU to return to earth whenenver they feel like it as soon, as they find a source of power strong enough for the WHD.

I don't think it'll make the gates useless. In fact it's more of a compliment to the gates. It's great for ships who need to get somewhere quickly, but it doesn't get you on the planet. The gates are actually on the planet surface, which is perfect for people who don't have access to interstellar vehicles.

Also, I'm curious if they will eventually get Destiny back through use of the wormhole drive as well. It makes sense. The only problem is working out how, exactly, they will get that much power. The only thing I can think of that can generate more power than a ZPM is that special form of ZPM that Rodney tried to make but failed and inadvertently blew up a solar system.:guffaw:

OK....Did I miss something? Is this thread about the final SGA episode? I thought that was not suppose to air until the first week of Jan. 2009 - or something like that. I will be really pissed if I missed it.

Yes this is about the final two episodes of SGA. They have not aired officially yet. They have been watched via... other means.

Thanks. I came in on this thread but never bothered carefully reading the first thread. Thats what I get for not paying attention. A selfimposed punishment has been applied.

The technology to do this will probably get lost.

That, or it's tricky to build, and Atlantis has the only prototype built into it. And it would be more than easy to say it burned out after it was used, or was irreparably damaged in the crash.

With the Earth chair destroyed, Earth has no use for their supply of Ancient drone weapons. They'll probably give those to Atlantis to replenish the ones that Atlantis expended in battle. Probably give them the ZPM that powered the earth chair as well, that should give Atlantis the power to hyper back to Pegasus.

And on another note, whose bright idea was it to give the Chinese a ship? Great, now they have superweapons and beam technology with which to trample all over human rights. Probably blast Taiwan from orbit and call it an "accident." I wouldn't trust those fuckers with a zat gun let alone a ship.

Yeah, I wouldn't put it past the commie chinese. Though if they did that there would be one hell of a world war with the USA have three BC-304's vs. one chinese 304.

I'd hope they'd plug Atlantis back into the Antarctic Outpost, but if the treaty is really that much of a bitch, they might only be able to get away with doing so for another five years.

And, in the real world, they'll never say goodbye to all of those stock footage shots of the city with nothing but ocean all around.

Yes, but for season 6 they could have shots of cloaked Atlantis being passed by Cargo and Cruise ships inserted into those very old ocean shots from season 1.

The could even do an episode where a cruise ship crashes into Atlantis.

Oh and here is hoping that the Season 5 DVD box set has a "special edition" 90 minute episode.... I really frelling hope it does!!!!

Oh and don't forget the upcomming two hour movie to conclude Atlantis, as long as it isn't rushed as this series finale.

I think they should make a 13 part miniseries dealing with the Stargate program going public. The reason they used for it when SG-1 was on was they didn't want it to become "before public and after public", however now that wouldn't be an issue. The new show takes place on a ship. They should really make the Stargate public before the 4th show starts, which I think will be in 2010.

Stargate: Tauri ;)

I would so watch a mini-series based on that. There's only so many times the SGC and its government allies can feed BS to the public.

"WOW! I saw a flying city land in the ocean!"
"Sir, you actually witnessed a weather phenomenon."

Hell, its not as if this is the 1st time an alien ship has landed in the ocean, its happened before in SG-1's Nemesis and Descent:

"WOW! I saw an alien spaceship land in the ocean!"
"Sir, you actually witnessed a weather phenomenon."

"WOW! I saw a pyramid spaceship...thingy land in the ocean!"
"Sir, you actually witnessed a weather phenomenon."

One thing has been bothering me about the finale. Atlantis should have had no trouble fighting that Wraith ship with just 1 ZPM. Atlantis had all 3 of its ZPMs going. We know Ancient tech is superior to the Wraith. Therefore that, combined with 3 ZPMs vs. 1 should have been no problem for Atlantis. For example, it should have gotten there a lot faster than the Wraith ship since it has 3 ZPMs powering it, plus, the shield should have held up much better since it had 3 ZPMs. It just seems like the city was only as powerful as it was with 1 ZPM, what the heck did the other 2 ZPMs do? Sit around and twiddle their fingers?

From what I could decern the WHD drained alot of the ZPMs power, and Remember effects are not finished and those bolts are the size of the DAEDALUS, also McKAY said power generation is what has been holding the Wraith back, hell look what it did for the Odyssey when it got its ZPM

What makes you think the IOA would let Atlantis return to Pegasus. especially scince Earth just lost its main defense.

Well they still have 5 Dadealus class ships (some need some big repair but still..) They should at least keep 2 of these ships near Earth at all times.

-Dadealus
-Oddessy
-Apollo
-Tsun Zu
-The New Phoenix/Hammond ship

And I'm sure there building more, soon the SGC and IOA will become starfleet command!! :)

Also for those wondering about our sneak peek at these episodes, episode 20 has raw (but not too bad) VFX and tells you each time with a caption that there 'Temp VFX', so it will be good to see the televised version for the final pollished VFX.

At some point the Europeans will need to fill their quota of totally ineffectual space ships. I figure that the Europa, Liberte or Monnet would have turned up eventually.

It was the biggest plot device in Stargate in the last few years - and that's saying something.
