Stargate Atlantis 5x19 - 5x20 (spoilers, do not enter)

Not really the City can just fly back to Pegasus I imagine, and with this new 'Wormhole Drive' the trip would be very fast and i imagine they could make a couple trips back and forth if need be. From a tactical standpoint i imagine that these would have to take place first before they go back:

- City gets repaired
- The ships get repaired and the new Hammond ship is launched giving them 5 battle cruisers, possibly leaving 2 near earth at all times.

Not really the City can just fly back to Pegasus I imagine...
If it can be fixed. The city didn't have enough power to keep from landing, much less take off again. So they have to repair the damage to the city, and replace one or more ZPMs, before they can go back.

And, of course, that assumes that the IOA will want to send it back.

I only just thought of this, but: "Exodus, Part II" (BSG) did the fall-through-the-atmosphere bit much better. ;)

And, of course, that assumes that the IOA will want to send it back.

Which I doubt because of the following

1) the IOA doesn't give a rat's ass about Pegasus.

2) no drone chair in Antartica means know Ancient weapons defense if something either gets by the ships or destroyes or disables them. Where as Atlantis has working drone weapons.

3) No way in hell the IOA would let the Atlantis expedition waltz off with the more than one ZMPs needed to get back to Pegasus assuming their new toy was a one shot deal.

4) No more SGC. If Antlantis is one earth than the IOA could cut the funding they have been giving the SGC scince SG-1's 9th season and give it to Atlantis effectively tacking control of the Stargate program from the US government and it's military and puting it under international control.

Yes. I believe they said that Atlantis gates supersede Milky Way gates. So Atlantis would probably take over from the SGC unless they were able to take their gate off the grid.

Well, Rodney mentioned they figured out how to get around it with the Midway Station, so they could keep using the SGC if they wanted to. The old gate does have the advantage of being fully operable even without power or a computer (I'm speaking more about the iris than manual dialing here. If Anubis had aimed his power-sucking ray at Atlantis in "Lost City," they wouldn't have been able to raise the gate shield and would've been quite screwed when he sent that bomb through. The iris, at least, has some kind of emergency manual deployment thing).

And would they really call the new ship the "General Hammond"? It's not usual for the inclusion of rank on naval vessels. It should instead be named the USS George S. Hammond, and commonly called the USS Hammond, like most of the US carriers have it today.

It's been known. The most famous example that comes to mind immediately is the German pocket battleship Admiral Graf Spee.

I just did a check on ships in the US navy now, and immediately ran across these:

MV 1st Lt. Alex Bonnyman
MV 1st Lt. Baldomero Lopez
USNS 1st Lt. Harry L. Martin
MV 1st Lt. Jack Lummus
USNS Gunnery Sgt. Fred W. Stockham
USNS Lance Cpl. Roy M. Wheat
MV Maj. Bernard F. Fisher
MV PFC James Anderson, Jr.
MV PFC William B. Baugh
MV Pvt. Franklin J. Phillips
MV VADM K.R. Wheeler

and so on.

There's always the chance that there are more city ships out there. Maybe the Destiny will have a map of where the other ones are. How cool would it be if they had an armada of city ships with fully charged ZPMs at their disposal. They could eventually become the guardians of the Pegasus galaxy AND the Milky Way.

Perhaps they'll eventually let the whole world know about the Stargate and what has been going on and they'll start colonizing both galaxies using city ships. They've been alluding to the fact that the Tau'ri are basically the direct successors to the ancients through all of Stargate. Why not make an entire series based on that and make it so the human race begins the race to colonize worlds. There could be some fascinating stories you could do with that. It would be like watching the creation of Starfleet but cooler!

What are they going to do with Todd? They now have a living Wraith in the Milky Way, on Earth of all places.

Speaking of Todd, did the "treatment" he had done to restore his health also restore his feeding hand or not? That wasn't made clear.

If the Atlantis gate can dial the Milky Way from Pegasus, why not have Atlantis just dial up a Pegasus gate from the Milky Way?

If ZPMs are an issue, why not track down the other ZPMs from the message the old Dr. Wier (the one that was in stasis for 10,000 years) gave them? As I recall, they only tried to get one of them.

Having Atlantis on Earth poses some advantages. It has a cloak and/or shields. It has the capabilities to defend Earth. It has more than one ZPM, however depleted they may be. It has a gate capable (due to ZMPs) of dialing other (at least 1 other) galaxies. It has a vast database of Ancient knowledge. It has a lot of Ancient technology that has yet to be cataloged and figured out.

You could dial a gate back to Pegasus, but only the Atlantis gate--or a gate equipped with its control crystals--could dial back. (Assuming, of course, you found a ZPM to power it.) You'd need to establish some sort of permanent base on the Pegasus end, protecting those crystals, or else you risk the Wraith finding the keys to the kingdom.

Another's in use (on the planet of the kids?). But yeah, I think that there's still one more floating around.

Who says the Tsun Zu is a Chinese ship? Why couldn't it be just another Deddy class ship the SGC built?

Though the chair is destroyed, there is still the Atlantis chair, I bet it can control the drones in the Antarctic base, especially if Atlantis landed there again.

I wish this got a 6th season, they could have done a whole series with Atlantis on Earth.

I am dissapointed we did not get to see the wormhole drive in action.

Well, it's probably both, if the Chinese were able to get the same sweet deal that the Russians got where they didn't just get the plans to the 304, but an actual, finished ship. Of course, the Russians had a lot more leverage, owning the stargate and all.

Plus if a hostil something or someone/someones come through the gate Atlantis could be placed in an isolated area making it easier to comtain the threat or at least easier than using the SGC would allow.

I think they should make a 13 part miniseries dealing with the Stargate program going public. The reason they used for it when SG-1 was on was they didn't want it to become "before public and after public", however now that wouldn't be an issue. The new show takes place on a ship. They should really make the Stargate public before the 4th show starts, which I think will be in 2010.

I would be down for a mini-series to make the gate public, 3 2-hour episodes would be nice.

That sounds good. And then another of the same length dealing with life months after the reveal. Sort of like what V did, except this might be O.

Still, what are they going to do with Todd, and what of his feeding hand?
