Stargate Atlantis 5x19 - 5x20 (spoilers, do not enter)

Okay I ahve two questions

1) In Vegas does Sheppard do the David Caruso thing with the sunglasses

Well, he takes them off at times. He never does it to punctuate a hilariously over-the-top one-liner, though.

2) Does the super hiveship look different say cooler than a regular hiveship.

It's... built. Roid rage, you might say.

Darn I was hoping for that it would have been funny as hell

Cool.

With the Earth chair destroyed, Earth has no use for their supply of Ancient drone weapons. They'll probably give those to Atlantis to replenish the ones that Atlantis expended in battle. Probably give them the ZPM that powered the earth chair as well, that should give Atlantis the power to hyper back to Pegasus.

And on another note, whose bright idea was it to give the Chinese a ship? Great, now they have superweapons and beam technology with which to trample all over human rights. Probably blast Taiwan from orbit and call it an "accident." I wouldn't trust those fuckers with a zat gun let alone a ship.

With the lost of the chair they might not want to let Atlantis go.
Well they where stupid enough to give Russia a ship so why not china.

The China in the Stargate universe is arguably much nicer than the "real" one. On Stargate, they only really worry about China as a nuclear superpower rather than a human rights flaunter. Plus, they have a strong presence in the IOA; several Chinese nationals have been seen in the background on Atlantis; and they arguably have more influene than the Russians ever had now that the latter have used up both their Stargate and the Korolev. Almost fitting then that like the Korolev, the Sun Tzu was beaten rather handily by the bad guys - though arguably this time around they can go back and salvage it.

And would they really call the new ship the "General Hammond"? It's not usual for the inclusion of rank on naval vessels. It should instead be named the USS George S. Hammond, and commonly called the USS Hammond, like most of the US carriers have it today. Calling it the "General Hammond" makes me want to paint the ship bright orange, jump it over rivers and escape every week from Boss Hogg. :)

What makes you think the IOA would let Atlantis return to Pegasus. especially scince Earth just lost its main defense.

we don't know that the chair or the drone batteries were destroyed, just rendered unuseable, because of death and fire all about. They should have figured out how to fire drones with out the chair by now... Like sticking them in milk or soda bottles and lighting a match?

They were going on about Caruso-Vision on the soup just yesterday :)

I'd hope they'd plug Atlantis back into the Antarctic Outpost, but if the treaty is really that much of a bitch, they might only be able to get away with doing so for another five years.

And, in the real world, they'll never say goodbye to all of those stock footage shots of the city with nothing but ocean all around.

Ronon and Teyla are put on trial again and somehow convince people that Pegasus is worth saving. Status quo restored.

As for real world politics, they really, really don't want to think about that "messy" stuff.
Remember, given that they're fighting in Afghanistan, it's reasonable to assume that 9/11 happened... which means, well, they let it happen when they probably could have done any number of things to stop jetliners from flying into buildings... let along track down the hijackers and teleport them into space before they even got onto the planes.
Politically, the SG universe is stuck in the cold war days of 80s films/television... and they seem perfectly happy with not complicating that.

20 - Not sure if this is going to be what's shown on air, but the pacing is extremely weird. It felt like there's a good 20-30 minutes that's been cut on the editing floor.
If so, they chose some interesting things to leave in--I would have expected them to lose, say, the Woolsey/Keller scene in the infirmary discussing their impending vaporization, or trim some of the establishing shots. (Do we really need to see the outside of Cheyenne Mountain anymore?)

Well, otherwise, film convention would state we were still on Atlantis, in a perfect reconstruction of the gateroom.

Speaking of, there was some... interesting... directing going on, in that they implied the control room where Carter and Davis were directing the defense of Earth was on an upper floor from the gateroom, though the set was a redress of either the control room or the briefing room (they take an elevator up). This illusion was disrupted a little when, in the second or third scene in there, they got sloppy and started letting you see the stargate out the window, implying some rather drastic remodeling at the SGC.

Not sure that adding a door from the briefing room out onto... level 26? counts as all that drastic. ;)

Well they still have 5 Dadealus class ships (some need some big repair but still..) They should at least keep 2 of these ships near Earth at all times.

-Dadealus
-Oddessy
-Apollo
-Tsun Zu
-The New Phoenix/Hammond ship

And I'm sure there building more, soon the SGC and IOA will become starfleet command!! :)

Also for those wondering about our sneak peek at these episodes, episode 20 has raw (but not too bad) VFX and tells you each time with a caption that there 'Temp VFX', so it will be good to see the televised version for the final pollished VFX.

I'm just wondering why the Tokra or the Jaffa weren't there?

And if you really think about it too much, what happened to the Ori ships? Earth didn't keep a couple after the pryors lost their faith and claim on anything to do with Origin?

How the hell are you people seeing these episode before January 2nd?

I imagine that a torrent of people want to know that. Well, maybe not that many, but a bit of a torrent, perhaps.

:bolian:

Tony

I don't see a torrent of people looking for 5x20, but I do know that such a video would be a mega upload :techman::techman:
I like Usenet myself....

Err that is.. uhh... you could use a net to catch uhh.... oh screw it.

I never watch CSI, and never usually like Wraith-centric eps, but even so, Vegas gets a 3 ZPMS from me.

3 ZPMS also for EaTG - better finale than Unending, but isn't putting a honking big chunk of ocean so close to the golden gate bridge going to put pressure into disclosure? If I were in the Navy, I'd be probably dangerously curious as to why we were guarding an empty patch of water.

EDIT, oh, and to me, in the beginning, Todd sounds like the cookie monster.

Sure, it's a better finale in that it actually wraps things up... but it does so in possibly the worst way imaginable: we abandon the Pegasus Galaxy to the Wraith, without even leaving them the City of the Ancients so they might be able to muddle through a solution.
