News Starfleet Academy Coming to P+

I am a positive guy usually when it comes to Trek (shows especially). However, I am worried about this show. I hate CW shows for the most part. (I am not target audience I know at 47). However, I am afraid this will be dumbed down. I realize Star Trek has to get younger viewers as the Trek fan base is aging, but I don't want Grey's Anatomy in space (realize that is not a CW show.)

I am giving it a chance. I had similar feelings with Prodigy, but it wasn't true, and it was my favorite season 1 of any Trek ever.

I think I've said this before, but even though I'm not interested in the premise, I think it's silly at best when folks pretend no one is interested in something. I'm sort of 'lucky' in that regard right now - I love Strange New Worlds, and I'd like to see a Legacy happen. These are both fairly loud segments of the fandom.

But I've been on the other side before! I remember how low my enthusiasm was toward Lower Decks' first season whilst plenty of people felt like (and still feel like!) it's the most 'Star Trek' show we've had in the modern era. Different strokes and all.

Anyway, I guess my only real concern re: SFA is whether it gets made. We don't know how far along in production it was, except that we can reasonably deduce it wasn't very far along. If the strikes continue long enough, it feels like the sort of thing a company might nix before it can go forward?

Even if it is CW Trek, I'm fine with that. CW shows are noted for their good looking young people, and I'm shallow enough that that would probably be enough to hold my interest even if the scripts suck.

Although, it's true I couldn't stand that Pandora show.
