The be fair, there would be shipping and shippers to any male (or female in same cases) for Rey regardless of color (or species sometimes), just because that's how shippers exist.

Oh, I know. I know fan fiction exists, and Rule 34 in all its various and odd variations. I'm there there is Rey/Poe out there and they've barely shared the screen (and no, I won't bother with the ridiculous name combinations. Spell properly, Internet!).

So, if the Internet has it covered, no need for the romance in the movie, right? Right!!? Please?

Now the Rey/Poe shippers are materializing. I guess it's important that Rey either has no romantic interest by the end the trilogy or that she either ships with Kylo Ren or Poe Dameron . . . anything other than her shipping with Finn. Because . . . hey, we can't have a young white woman having a romance with a black guy.

Or we just don't want romance. You know, that's a thing too.

There are people that work that way sadly.
But..if they see Rey as the heir to Leia, maybe they see Poe as the heir to Solo. With a few bits mixed about, because Poe is the moody rebel who was rescued from the Stormtroopers, and Rey flies the Falcon and hangs around with a walking carpet. He’s still the hot shot pilot, and she’s still the girl with silly hair.
So I can see it.
I haven’t seen this film yet, and I am not looking forward to it.

Just go in and enjoy it.

Have been spoilered, and do t agree with almost any of the story choices made, have read the arguments for and against, and basically, I hope the execution is damned amazing.
Otherwise they are just killing old heroes for shits and giggles at this point. Not before totally screwing them up first...Han got stripped of his happy ending and killed, Luke too from what I see, totally character assassinated, and there’s nothing left for Leia but dying after seeing her life’s work and family relationships all destroyed. What next? Lando asking for small change before being shot?
I’ll watch it, but I do not have hope.

I suspect Disney is killing off the heroes and ending the Skywalker line so that it can re-write Lucas' saga in its own fashion. And since the studio now owns the franchise, I guess it can do that. I even suspect that once Lucas is dead, the studio will try to re-write his six films. I hope I'm wrong. I pray that I'm wrong. I guess we'll see.

Just go in and enjoy it.

If you can.

Nope, it's all racism. That's the only explanation for anything ever.

I cannot think of any other reason why Rian Johnson would try to hint at a possible romance between Rey and the man who had recently (and we're talking about three days or less) tried to violate her mind, who had murdered his father, maimed her closest friend and tried to kill her. Why would so many of you be willing to accept that scenario, especially since the two movies are set . . . a day or less apart?

I keep reading these excuses, but they just come off as lame. And at the same time, these same people try their level best to sweep Rey's relationship with Finn under the rug.

Or we just don't want romance. You know, that's a thing too.

Especially when a white woman and a black man are involved.

And that's a garbage response. But, please assume my mindset about what I want in a film and why I want it. Never mind the trope that every action film has that involves the main lady always getting with the main guy. Never mind doing something new. Just rely on all the old tropes o the past...

Because Kylo is damaged. Period. How he perceives relationships does not mean "Johnson's hinting at romance." It means these characters are dynamic and have emotions beyond the basic crayon color set of 8 that movie characters often get treated to.

With how "woke" everyone is today, after TFA I noticed some popularity around Rinn Dameron as a throuple.
Three person relationships are triads.

Let get me just get this out of the way first, fuck you, I'm not racist.
Whew, OK, now that that's out of the way....
I never really saw where Rey and Finn had to get together. They were close in TFA, but it always just seemed like more a close friendship than something that had to be romantic. Honestly if Finn was going to get together someone, I would much rather it be with Poe. We got some nice potential for Finn and Rose in TLJ, but I don't think it went quite to the level of Foe, or would it be Pinn, for me. Rose almost seems like a fan girl crush, more than a real romance to me.
And just FYI, Worf and Dax is my favorite Trek relationships, I love Barry and Iris in The Flash, and I've been disappointed we haven't gotten more Lyla and Diggle in Arrow. So for me, this really has nothing to do with race.

I hope not. If someone described themself to me as being in a triad, I’d be watching out for meat cleavers and worrying any time they ask to borrow 3.60 for a McDonald’s, in case I inadvertently join and end up smuggling Fay Wong CDs for the grey import market.

At this point I think it's a bit silly for anyone to expect a romance arc for Rey with only one movie left to go. She's on a similar path Luke was on in the OT and we all know how disastrous things get when Jedi start dating people on the side.

It *may* have been a possibility with Kylo had things gone differently (i.e. one or the other switching sides) but that door/entry ramp has literally and figuratively closed.
A relationship with Finn was I guess a theoretical possibility at the end of TFA, (though it always seemed basically platonic) but at this point they seem to be pushing the Rose/Finn relationship more, plus Rey barely interacted with him in TLJ and mentioned him even less, so that's even less likely than Kylo at this point.

I'm starting to come around to the theory/wishful thinking that there are actually going to be two more. Splitting the final movie in two is practically obligatory for series, these days (even Avengers is doing it, so it's spreading beyond direct literary adaptations). Maybe Episode XI is the end of this trilogy, thematically, and then they tie off the whole saga with an Episode X, capping off the trilogy of trilogies.
