Star Wars: The Clone Wars S4

I'm surprised at the lack of Fan Venom on this board for the return of Maul. I peeked at some other message boards and some fans are losing their shit. Raped childhoods, etc. and the like. It remains to be seen, I don't particularly care if he's back or not... of course actually seeing it tomorrow and we'll know how we feel about it.

Logically, George had to okay Maul's return himself. So there must be some destination in mind from the writers. It's too bad he seems to have a lot of dialog based on the trailer. Maul was best nearly mute.

Overall I think S4 has been more entertaining than S3. So far the Mortis arc still lands at the bottom for me. For all its force-magic that seemed to piss a lot of fans off, last weeks' episode was the first CW I've ever seen that I had to watch it twice in a row the first time. All baddies, Grevious vs. Ventress, Voodooku. Can't wait to see what Obi Wan has to say to Maul.

OBI: "So sorry for Darth Mauling you, but you did kill my master."
Re-MAUL: "Why not agree to let Qui-Gones be Qui-Gones?"

I don't see the point about being pissed about Maul's return. They've done it a couple times in the comics, IRC.

delusion that Star Wars should in any way be beholden to something only a few fans probably even know about let alone care about.
It works fine for the Clone Wars even if Lucas makes the break canon evry now and then.

Which is his right because while Star Wars EU fans live in a magic make believe land where everyone craps rainbows out here in sucky reality land books and video games are trumped by tv and film unless its a video game or book/comic series to start with.

We already almost live there thanks to Dave Filoni.

Maul wasn't brought back in the comics, the graphic novel "Star Wars: Visions" did an alternate take on him surviving and being augmented with mech/droid type legs.

Maul's return was hinted at just over a year ago now. It didn't come out of the blue for those watching the show.

It's just desserts for the fanbase that insists Boba Fett survived Return of the Jedi.

Could it be seen as a good sign [for Star Wars] if people are now thinking that things that mess with the prequels rape childhoods as opposed to the prequels themselves raping childhoods?

Maybe Maul will be easier to defeat this time:

A) Obi-Wan is much more skilled than he was as a Padawan.

B) Maul, like Vader, has probably lost a lot of his force potential, by having to rely on cybernetic parts.

Really? Wow, I'm surprised anyone actually cares in the slightest about a character from The Phantom Menace. Especially one who was barely a character at all, just an obstacle.

But then, Boba Fett somehow garnered a fan following despite being little more than an extra and an action figure, and Wedge Antilles is pretty popular too, so Star Wars fans do seem to latch onto the ciphers.

Wasn't there another one where Vader fights a version of Maul-- can't remember if it was a force ghost or a clone or what it was, been a while.

The point is: Still not the first time he's come back (what ever the reason). As Christopher said: It's like Boba Fett.

I think we all agree that they have really raised the bar on the prequels.

Why can't you just say that is your position, without insisting that everyone agrees with you?

People here are too busy worrying about the return of Khan.

Guess that makes me a little mixed up, then. I'm not liking Maul's return (he was CUT IN HALF) but I'm waiting to see how that's developed. Besides, I've given up my venom over Star Trek and Star Wars. It's all turning into a cluster.

But I'll gladly defend Fett's surviving the Sarlacc. If Threepio's description is accurate, the Sarlacc digestive system works slowly. Fett fell in wearing full body armor and still had numerous weapons at his disposal. Even with a malfunctioning jet pack it shouldn't have been difficult at all for him to jump, jet, climb, grapple his way up and out. And that was before the Special Edition added scaleable/climbable tongue and tentacles coming out of the beast's mouth.

Based on the end of The Phantom Menace, I find it completely believable that the Jedi did not recover Darth Maul's body.

Earlier at the Jedi Temple, Mace had said that they would use all their resources to uncover the identity of the attacker. By suggesting at the end of the film that they are left not knowing anything specific about him, besides that he was a Sith, it is believable that they had nothing more to go on, because they had no body to examine.

there's an explanation for each, though

1. Boba Fett and Maul have the "cool" factor, Boba has the voice(before it was ruined to gel with AOTC), and the suit, Maul has the look and the double-bladed lightsaber.
2. Wedge is one of the few extra Rebellion folks to make it through the trilogy.

those are my explanations at any rate.

Tell that to Karen Traviss :)

Or it could be that funeral preparations for Qui-Gon took precedence and searching for the body of a presumed dead sith wasn't given much priority.

Well, saying something's believable isn't the same as saying that it could only have happened that way.

Yep. They were also firsts. Fett was the first new character introduced after ANH, and there was a lot of hype surrounding him before TESB was released. Also, without Vader in TPM, Maul was the obvious kinetic villain to latch onto, as the first Sith that the Jedi directly engaged in the PT.

Everything can be retconned and she violated canon multiple times, so i dont care for her work.

Careful, she might think you're a Talifan.

I enjoyed her books, and I'm sure she's a lovely person in person, but just from the way she's dealt with the fanbase online, I'm not a fan of her. Still, I think she did okay with her books, even if he did become a circle-jerk in the end of "Clones/Mandolorians = Cool; Jedi = Scum".
