Star Wars:The Clone Wars S3......so far

Pardon me if you guys have already discussed this but what do you all think about the costume changes the three main characters are getting? Wired already addressed Ahoska's change (which I like) a couple days ago and Anakin and Obi-Wan are addressed on StarWars.com Dave Filoni calls the move a reflection of the change the characters are going through as they're affected by different aspects of the war. He also cites the changes as part of growing closer to the events of Episode III (I suppose he is referring to Anakin and Obi-Wan)

I could see Anakin executing Cad Bane over Aurra or Ventress. Though GL has ignored or tweaked events from the novels or EU, it would be far easier to get rid of Bane, who was created just for the show, instead the other characters. I mean, Aurra is still around some 40 years after ROTJ and Ventress's supposed exit from the Clone Wars has already been covered in the comics. Getting rid of Bane wouldn't cause as many problems and since he's getting a lot of facetime it might even have more of an impact, within the confines of the show.

My thoughts on the season so far...
The Aurra Sing episode "Assassin" (?) and the last Ziro episode were the best so far. I was surprised that they dispatched Ziro and actually showed it. Plus, it was great seeing Quinlan Vos. The rest of the season has been uneven, with the Mandalore episodes perhaps being the worst. I don't get the logic behind doing prequels of Season 1 episodes in Season 3. Let it go and keep the story going forward.

Also think new costumes are a good idea. It sometimes annoys me that cartoon characters always wear the same outfits. Why not change it up? Plus it gives GL another reason to sell more toys.

The costume changes are a good idea -- even if Obi-Wan and Anakin will now more explicitly remind viewers of ROTS, as opposed to their CW personas. But it's nice to see the visual cues of change and progress. And I agree that it's unlikely that we'll see Anakin dispatch with either Sing or Ventress. It's improbable, but it's not entirely impossible.

Dare I ask, is anyone keeping a proper chronology and ultimate viewing order of these episodes? I caught the two-part clone opener of episodes happening before and then after a first-season episode (only because I re-watched season one just before the third started), but I've been surpirsed how much they've been jumping around the timeline of this season.

I agree, it's fun fleshing out some characters and motivations but I prefer the episode of one week to directly follow the episode I watched last week. :)

Oh, that's right. GL would never let the Clone Wars series contradict any of the EU books (*cough* Mandalore *cough*).

I suppose one could see the TCW Sing and the EU Sing as different characters, since one of them uses the Force and the other doesn't.:alienblush:

It's due to the theme of this season being "Mysteries Revealed". For some reason I guess they felt is was a cool concept to show us how all these events we've seen started. Plus I think it was Lucas himself that wanted this season to be more about political intrigue than action adventure. Unfortunately because of it there is no balance(in the force) this season as well.

However, it's ironic how some many have complained about the first two seasons being to clone vs droid heavy and now we wish it would go back to that just to pick up the pace. I have a funny feeling we're going to see in one ep. how Grevious aquired the Malevolence gunship.

But Ahsoka's, like, actually fully clothed. How is that a good thing?

Seriously, though... have the horns on top of her head gotten longer? I guess that's a sign of maturation in the, uh, uh... Togruta! Finally, I remembered the name of her species without having to look it up.

And I agree that it's unlikely that we'll see Anakin dispatch with either Sing or Ventress. It's improbable, but it's not entirely impossible.

Aurra, Ventress, and Cad Bane are among the most interesting characters on the show -- certainly more so than boring old Grievous or Nute Gunray. I wouldn't like to see them killed off. Besides, Aurra's kind of weirdly sexy.

^ So is Ventress, if it comes to that. Did you see the deleted scene in which she kisses a clone trooper that she'd just run through with her lightsaber? Not sure how Freud would read that, but I imagine an evening with her would be anything but dull.

Deleted scene.

To respond to the poster who asked how we think the Clone Wars will end? I think it's possible they could do a finale episode that leads right into Episode III (a rewrite of the finale micro series episode maybe or something that ignores it, although Filoni has said in the past that they're not totally ignoring the micro series) and that Ahsoka will either be lost or killed.

I also theorized that there was no in-universe mention of her because events progressed so fast for the characters from their recall from the outer rim (where they were just prior to episode III) to the Battle of Courscant that there wasn't any time to deal with what happened with Ahoska. However after viewing most of the series to date I think she has become too important a character and facet of Anakin's life for them to not deal with her at the end of the series.

I'm almost to the dreaded S3 episodes! Fortunately I've been following along here so I'm braced for them to be garbage. :rommie:

Ahsoka might fall to the dark side or be killed at the end of the series, but I'm rooting for Door Number Three: Anakin deliberately protects her from Order 33 because as inhuman as he's become, he still cannot just throw her to the wolves. Score one for attachment!

We might get some pussyfooting around with Ahsoka and the dark side before the end. Seeing the process of a Jedi falling before Anakin does would be enlightening and a good setup for what happens with Anakin - it would be good to really see what's at stake and not just imagine it.

If Ahsoka is a dark side Padawan (assuming such a thing exists) by the end of the series, that might also explain her survival. And if she does survive, that would make a great segue into the ROTS-ANH interstitial series that was supposed to be live action but won't be now.

I see no reason why the animated series should stop with ROTS. Let's carry it beyond, with Ahsoka as the main character, either one of the few surviving Jedi on the run, or even more interestingly, if she manages to get out of the clutches of the dark side.

That girl is a fah-REEK. :D Is it just me, or is there something going on between her and Obi-Wan, at least on a subliminal level?

As a fan of Ahsoka myself I personally hope she somehow survives but since Filoni purposefully has avoided answering that question...methinks she won't.

^ Same here. But if she does I would certainly be up for Temis's idea of a post RotS series following her.
