Really liked last night's episode, and loved the first ep in the trilogy. The second show wasn't without flaws, but I was so happy they finally had Dooku expressing a desire to supplant Sidious. Up to this point, I felt that Dooku was portrayed as something of a dupe, a placeholder until Vader. But this episode, in addition to the entire Clone Wars series to be fair, elevate him to worthy Sith Lord status.
However, I thought his declaration was a bit rushed. I mean, why express this to Savage after only one mission, albeit wildly successful? I think that's a bit too soon to discuss something like that, especially since a level of 'trust' hasn't been established, nor obedience and/or fear of Dooku if Savage betrayed him.
I don't see any evidence that he expressed similar inclinations to Asajj (though the microseries doesn't count I guess, she did claim herself to be Sith in it, and expressed a desire to become Sith), who I would think would'nt have minded joining forces with Dooku at all to overthrow Sidious. I wonder if Sidious's demand to get rid of Asajj convinced Dooku that a change in leadership was in order?
I liked the relationship developed between Savage and his brother, and how they used that relationship to show his change. I do think the new Savage ripped through the Jedi and clones too easily and also declared that he took the tower without even going inside. That did feel rushed. I wish the Jedi had been established a little bit before they were dispatched, though I know it was done to show how badass Savage was. But the fact that these were just random, nameless Jedi undermined how remarkable his initial battle was.
Not sure if I like some of the changes to what was perceived about Darth Maul's origins. I preferred that his markings were Sith tattoos instead of Nightbrother markings. As for his reddish skin, I wonder if he got a skin color change to appear more like the original Sith? That's what I gather has occurred for a great number of the One Sith in the Legacy comics. But they also had those Maul-like tats, so I wonder what's the explanation for that the Lucas folks are going to eventually come up with.
AotC and TCW have both previously established Palps is trying to win Anakin over. If anything I'd think he's going to keep throwing them all at each other until only one is left standing.
