Looking at the trailer again, I can't help but feel like the most interesting element is that mysterious shot of the hooded figure in a room with Imperial guards and what looks like a bacta tank.

The hooded obviously figure can't be Sidious or Vader. Forest Whitaker character perhaps? Then why the Royal Guardsmen? What's in that tank?

So? Is that going to effect the plot? The characters? The acting? The directing? It's just scale of a non-excisting object. I'll get over it.
But I already sounded the alarm! There's no backing out now, the scale police will be on their way!

The scale looks like someone mistook the measurements of the ANH and RotJ Death Stars. I never realized there was much of a difference for 20 years though, so I don't think this is something that will bother me or 99% of even the most hardcore fans.

Thanks for the comparison JD. I unfortunately noticed some other problems. The problems depend on how much time before ANH this takes Mon Mothma's rope chains are to thick when compared to ROTJ. Maybe she changed the out but I doubt it. The actress that is playing Mon Mothma is a excellent double though. The carts the rebels use to ferry people around at the yavin base look nothing like the one we saw in ANH.

Looking again at the still pictures the star destroyer to death star size scale is way off. That star destroyer in the distance on the RO photo would from our perspective get smaller as it gets closer to the death star which would mean its smaller in width then the equatorial trench. Totally wrong.

If I found the difference they should have found it.

Have you considered maybe they're not the same ones? Perhaps she lost them when evacuating Yavin 4? Sheesh, they're just necklaces or ropes or whatever the heck they are.

Though he is right, they are quite a bit thicker

Ex-Imperial Senator turned leader of the shadow government/Republic-in-exile on the run from the Galactic Empire? Her supplies will be less than before...but I image she'll be traveling lightly. Relatively speaking. Mon's their leader, or will be after Alderaan, depending on how she and Bail held responsibility for the Rebel Alliance.

We didn't know just how much clothing Leia had that got soaked on Hoth when R2 turned up the heat in her quarters based on 3PO's comment about it being freezing there. I doubt any of them got off world, though I guess someone could have packed her things while she was busy coordinating the defense efforts and running for her life.

When Disney first acquired the rights to Star Wars I felt some trepidation due to the possibility of there being too many Star Wars films because of it. I'm still not convinced we need a Han Solo origins movie, nor any of the other suggested ideas so far. However, this looks fantastic and I can see it adding to my enjoyment rather then over-saturating it. I just wonder how many other lines from the original movies they can build an entire story out of.

Actually, I would watch Ewen do a Young-ish Obi Wan movie because I think he really made the character his own.

We had Pre-OT Han Solo novels in the old EU, why not the movies?
For me Han Solo is Harrison Ford and vice versa. Using the Star Trek reboots as an example; they're fine and they're a good cast but, to me at least, they won't ever be the original characters. So whoever they cast as Han Solo will only ever be doing an impression of him. Equally now, I can't imagine any other actor playing Tony Stark although I'm sure they'll find another Iron Man of some description. Ewen McGregor as Obi Wan Kenobi seemed to work because of the massive age gap between him and Guinness. McGregors performance could conceivably become the perfomance Guinness put in, for example. But Ford was in his thirties so unless they're doing him really young all I'll see is someone who won't grow into Han Solo.

I don't think we need a Han Solo origin movie or a Boba Fett movie.

Really, you're nit picking that?

At least they made some progress on her hair color. In ROTS it was like, "We need to cast Mon Mothma... you say she had 'red' hair, right?"

I suspect that had more to do with a lack of continuity oversight. Or rather a much less attentive one than there is now (at least until things get complicated again.)

Oh, I don't question that there was a lack of continuity oversight. But it takes two to tango, as the saying goes. When an editor ( or continuity overseer? ) misses a mistake, that mistake is only there in the first place because the author made it. The author is the first line of defense, so to speak. And a fair amount of the errors in those books displayed an apparent unfamiliarity with the specifics or the timeline of the prequels. Your point about authors maybe not being Star Wars fans is well-taken, but it sometimes feels like they actively avoid watching the prequels due to that trilogy's toxic cultural reputation, while any relevant information from the OT is more culturally ingrained at this point.

As far as the idea that there is a much more attentive system of continuity oversight now, we can only hope. But arguably we have already seen a few cracks in that facade: Tarkin seemed to be inconsistent with the SE of ROTJ, for example, and now we have a Rogue One trailer that at first glance seemed to contradict ROTS. It is not especially encouraging that the much-lauded Story Group contains some of the same people who did such a bang-up job managing continuity in the old regime.
