Star Wars Rebels Season Three (spoilers)

There is also a full issue or almost full issue of the Kanan comic that does take place during Season 1. I bought and flipped through it but haven't read it yet so I'm not positive, but I don't think anything from it has ever come up in the show.

How many more episodes are left in Season 3?

Been wondering that myself. I haven't been able to find an episode count for the season, but assuming there's 22 (like season 2 and most seasons of Clone Wars) there's 7 episodes remaining.

The Star Wars Rebels Wiki has details of the remaining episodes

Yep. But on the bright side, Rogue One will likely be released on DVD and Blu-ray a few weeks after the finale. And we'll have a new Thrawn-centred novel around the same time too.

Rogue One on physical media. Can't wait. Rumors are April 4th is the drop date... and then after that we'll be busy salivating over each and every frame of the much anticipated Episode VIII teaser!

And after that it will be Star Wars Celebration and those lucky bastards attending may get a chance to see the Rebels season 4 premiere. But at least we'll probably see a trailer for season 4.

I'll be spending time this week rewatching all of season three so far to lead into the final 7 episodes. As much as people complain about 'filler' episodes, it seems like this entire series is one gigantic arc. Most episodes seem to connect with each other in some thematic way, if not by individual plot threads.

If there is no season four, I would suspect they would start what is essentially a sequel show that takes up right after the formation of the Rebel Alliance. Perhaps not be a show about just the Ghost crew, but be a wider cast more like The Clone Wars. If they want to still do the tie in with Rogue One at the Battle of Scariff.

They also could start a show that takes place around the time of the Sequel Trilogy. Or even the Old Republic era which they have liked to throw nods at for years now.

Here's the thing: production is always about a year ahead of broadcast so even if Disney cancelled the show tomorrow, they'd still have a big chunk, if not most of season 4 already in the can. It's the same reason that when Clone Wars was cancelled, they still had several arcs worth of episodes done and released later as "Lost Missions". On to of that there were over a dozen more in various stages of production ranging from the early draft/concept stage which partly lead to the various CW Legacy projects and of course eight fully voiced story reels.

I can't remember where I read it but I think Dave Filloni has recently been promoted up the production ladder, which to me says they want him overseeing more than Just Rebels. To me that says either that they're going to announce a second show to run in tandem, (presumably with an entirely different setting and cast, either Old Republic or post RotJ) or they're going to be producing an animated feature, possibly DTV but maybe even for theatrical release.
I hope it's the latter since it seems about the only way we'd ever get the Ahsoka/Maul/Mandalore storylines.

At this point, I would be cool with it if they ended "Rebels" as is and re-launched it as "Rebellion" or somesuch, and then told stories with a wider scope similar to "Clone Wars". Assuming that one season = one year, we are now almost two years pre-ANH. At this point, there is surely a wider array of Rebellion stories than can be told than through the lens of the same Rebel cell over and over and over again. Don't abandon the Ghost crew altogether, as there are still plenty of stories to be told there, but a new format would allow them to branch out a little.

The likely focus of a theoretical "Rebellion" show would be a newly-promoted General Syndulla. With the rank, comes a wider array of responsibilities. This would allow the narrative to branch off into the adventures of other characters. For instance, history has shown that Star Wars fans eat up stories about Wedge Antilles, and lo and behold, there he be! Wedge and Hobbie could be under the General's command and have stories focused on them. Cassian Andor and K-2SO seem like an natural fit for an arc (anything for more of Alan Tudyk 's K-2SO). The history of Jedha could be explored with Chirrut and Baze. I think that there is at least one more Saw Guererra story to be told between his appearance in Rebels and Rogue One. What? Did someone say Han and Chewie? Even if they can't get Harrison Ford, I bet the new guy would do it.

Yeah. I would seriously watch that show.

IIRC, Filoni's new title is something like "Head of Animated Productions" or something similar. Which certainly suggests there are plans for something else animated, be it another series or even an animated movie.

I'm gonna have to call shenanigans on that link. We have at least once voice actor on record stating that he was doing voice work for season 4. When Star Wars Rebels was first announced they said "3 or 4 seasons" but it would be criminally wasteful to write/record another entire season just to say, "oh fuck it, let's carpet bomb the fans with disappointment like we did with The Clone Wars."

It doesn't feel like the story is wrapping up. For a show with only 7 episodes left they have left many, many plot threads up in the air. I can't see them all being tied up in a neat little package by the end of March. Plus we know there's still two years out until Rogue One takes place.

The reports of there not being a fourth season seem to me to be click-bait based on extremely circumstantial evidence. We'll be watching a fourth season in the fall, I'm confident.

I don't think they would have went to the trouble of dropping all those Easter Eggs into RO if it was about to get the axe.
