Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

What I never understood is why he felt the need to jetpack over to the other skiff...just to point a blaster at Luke in convenient slashing range. I mean surely he could have fired that thing from where he was, no? Maybe it's just his in-experience dealing with Jedi, but it still feels a little stupid. I don't mind how he died so much since clearly that armour is not designed for close quarters fighting, I just question why he chose to jump into a melee next to a Jedi and a Wookiee.

...maybe R2 spiked his drink? ;)

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

He did scream and flail like a young Jerry Lewis as his jetpack launched him into the mouth of the Sarlaac. All that was missing was Dean Martin standing on a skiff going: "Ah, come on, Boba, quit that stupid horsin' around and get back over here, boy!"

Why walk around with a jet pack strapped to your back if you're not gonna use it?

Sure, but use it to get *away* from the bloke swinging the lightsabrer around, not land right in front of him so he can cut your weapon in half. His old man understood that. The only reason Jango isn't still around is because the damn thing was damaged and misfired. ;)

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Huh, now this is odd. My understanding was the spin-offs were for the in-between years of each the trilogy's main releases. For example, the pattern would go:

2015: Episode VII
2016: Spin-off
2017: Episode VIII
2018: Spin-off
2019: Episode IX
I thought they were for the in-between years too, but I was expecting the trilogy to follow the old "three years between" pattern:

2015: Episode VII
2016: Spin-off
2017: Spin-off
2018: Episode VIII
2019: Spin-off
2020: Spin-off
2021: Episode IX

I thought when Disney bought the franchise they stated their intentions was to do the trilogy movies with two years in-between? Besides, with 2017 being the 40th anniversary, I find it more likely they'll want that year's movie to be one from the "core story" rather than a spin-off.

Josh Trank already made a Star Wars film:

Well to give Boba the benefit of the doubt, maybe he realized the first plan of attack (the blaster) might not work, and he would need to be closer to use his other weapons (the rope, flamethrower, etc). Or maybe he just wanted to be a badass and confront this Jedi one on one.

What I don't understand from that scene is how he somehow falls flat on his face shortly thereafter after the skiff gets slightly jolted. Does this skilled, fearsome bounty hunter really not have a better sense of balance than that? Lol

His old man understood that. The only reason Jango isn't still around is because the damn thing was damaged and misfired. ;)

And also because he thought it'd be a good idea to open fire on a pissed-off Sam Jackson. ;)

Any yet the first thing he does is point his carbine right in Luke's face? No, this is clearly a character who wasn't envisioned as being anywhere near as competent as the fandom would later make him out to be.

...or that's not actually Fett but some halfwit passing himself off as Fett. Maybe the real Fett was still back at Jabba's palace with a massive hangover, wondering who stole his gear. ;)

I just said he was smart enough to use a jetpack properly. I didn't say he'd read Ezekiel 25:17. :p

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Not just open fire - he set the man's cloak on fire. That's just impolite.

He hadn't gotten around to doing his wash for that week and it was his last clean Jedi robe. I'd have decapitated a bounty hunter, too.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Here is something else that doesn't make any sense - why is Boba even still at Jabba's palace? Job is long over.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Based on his Special Edition cameo in A New Hope where he's tagging along with Jabba's entourage perhaps he's one of Jabba's favorites and the Hutt insisted he stick around for a while after capturing Han and enjoy the services and debauchery of the palace. "Hey, stick around. Enjoy looking at Solo hanging on my wall. You earned all this."

Actually, I'm a lot more curious as to why Bossk and Dengar are there in some shots. They failed to get Han, so why are they hanging out behind the guy who bested them in the hunt? Did Jabba hire them for other assignments and they just happened to be there at the exact same time?

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Someone as powerful and as wealthy as Jabba is bound to keep some proficient mercenary types on retainer. I mean his only other security consists of his majordomo, a couple pig guards, a droid-eye thing and a *really* big door.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

The guys with facial scars and bandages wrapped around their heads usually are. It's the gauze.

The dancing girls love the gauze.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

And not just any lightsaber - the Anakin / Luke lightsaber. If Mark's going for an Obi-Wan / bearded Master look in the new film I'd say he can pull it off and look pretty good doing so.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Greedo, despite dying, is also seen in ROTJ...or rather, somebody wearing the exact same costume. Reusing aliens/costumes was sort of regular in the OT-even in ESB, the bounty hunters seem to be basically slapped together from Star Wars props-Dengar using stormtrooper armor, IG-88's head at least was part of the Cantina's tap or something, 4-Lom looks like he used some spare C-3PO parts and Bossk is pretty much a repainted Cantina alien with a bit of a rebel flight uniform.

I wonder if we'll see Mark with the ROTJ green saber in the finished film. Also I like the beard look, sort of reminiscent of Obi-Wan.
