Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Could be Yavin IV, but could also be another Rebel base or planet we may or may not have heard mentioned in previous movie dialogue. There are so many planets listed on recent, official maps of the Star Wars galaxy that the creators could pick any of them for a new and interesting location, or it could even be a world depicted in The Clone Wars or Rebels.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

It would be cool if it was the briefly-talked-about Rebel base on Dantooine.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

The Rebels would have had well over 30 years to reoccupy and reestablish their Dantooine base. Works for me. I can't remember if they ever depicted Dantooine in one or more episodes of The Clone Wars but I wouldn't mind seeing the planet on the big screen.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

So was Dantooine supposed to be in the same system as Tatooine or something? I always wondered why Lucas made the names so similar.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Nah, just a similar name. It features fairly prominently in the now "Legends" KOTOR games though as one of the main Jedi strongholds in the past.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Those images being discussed were labeled "Massassi" on the original place posted, by ImageShack user "themillenniumfalcon." I made a point of it to save each image with its given name. Of course, the account is now dead. But it gives real weight to the reality of scenes occurring on Yavin IV.

As far as Dantooine goes, my guess it's the shoot from Greenwood(?) with the rebel ships parked in alcoves between grassy hills. Just a guess. We know that Dantooine was a farming planet in the Outer Rim, much like Tatooine and Lothal.

A couple of the games also mentioned Klatooine, but a quick skim of the three planets' Wookieepedia pages suggests no connection between them save that they are all located in the Outer Rim. Unless I missed something (it was a very quick skim).

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

And if you look at the official maps of the Star Wars galaxy Tatooine and Dantooine aren't in the same system or even that near one another. They just have similar names and are both located in the Outer Rim Territories, that's all.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Safe to say it is as simple as they were named by or influenced by the same people, culture or government.

E.g. Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Kazakhstantooine is nicest -stantooine, yes? High Five!

Anyone catch this? Ewok's returning to VII, notably the actor who played the cute lovable one, Warwick Davis.

Did anyone have any doubts that Disney wouldn't take the opportunity to bring the Ewoks back? Hopefully they will not sing though.

It's the merchandizing baby! LOL

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

I know there were vague rumors earlier of a return to Endor, but I'd be very surprised if we saw the Ewoks again. And I seriously doubt that's what Davis is going to be playing.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

I don't think he's going to play Wicket nor any other Ewok, neither. His two roles in The Phantom Menace were human and a child Rodian and I imagine he'll get another human role or play a different alien species this time around.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Speaking of filming or even adding cast, you'd think Abrams would be just about down with at least all of the principle filming. The film comes out in a little more than a year and IIRC it took nearly a year to edit Trek for release?

Principal photography should be wrapping up sometime in early November. I know they were originally targeting a September end to filming but Ford's injury messed things up a bit.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

The first good, close-up look at Artoo as he appears in Episode VII.

Yeah, pretty much the same droid we've all known and loved since the original movie first hit theaters way back in 1977, but it's nice to see the little guy in all his classic glory. That little droid's been the real unsung hero of the entire Saga when you think about it, plus by the time the Sequel Trilogy is complete he'll be one of the very few characters to appear in all nine films (and that doesn't count other projects without Episode numbers and titles).
