Star Wars Clone Wars Season Premiere

You'll have to explain this because I don't see how they aren't.
I see the elderly as less accepted by society then adolescents.
We throw the elderly in nursing homes when we don't wanna deal with them. I see more stuff geared toward the young in society, not out casting them.
Well, I'm not talking about physically separating adolescents from society -- as I said, I see Jar Jar's separation as symbolic -- so your comment regarding the elderly is irrelevant. Social acceptance is a huge part of adolescence. Learning how to integrate one's desires into the possibilities and expectations of society. How to do it while not pissing off everyone else isn't easy to learn. It's part of why peer pressure is such a force, and historically, why older generations tend to either belittle or minimize the significance of what adolescents find important.

More specifically, at least in the U.S., adolescents have to wait until they are 16 to drive; 18 to vote; 21 to drink. Society won't accept adolescents until they've cleared certain benchmarks. Why? Because society doesn't think they are mature enough.
irrelevant-OUCH!

Ok, I got your point.
I don't completely agree when I comes to Jar Jar but I see what you're getting at.

Anywhoo...

I'm looking forward too seeing George Lucas' character from ep.3 featured in the next episode. Does anyone know if he's doing the voice too?

The entire Papadoinia family is supposed to be involved and I believe that George confirmed in his interview with Jon Stewart from CV that he would be doing the voice. His daughter wrote the episode so I don't see why he wouldn't.

It fits the conceit underlying Jar Jar's antics: that he seems clumsy, but his actions always ultimately seem to achieve some constructive purpose even if it's evidently by accident. I've seen it suggested that he has some kind of unconscious Force ability that lets him literally stumble onto the right solution to things. Or it could be just that he's actually more coordinated than he looks, but he goes about it in a loose, dynamic way that appears clumsy to human eyes.

See, taken in that light, Jar Jar is a linchpin of the force. He crashed Boss nass's ship, got banished, because the force needed him to meet Qui Gon, in order to bring about his becoming a senator to usher in the fall of the republic, which led to Luke's Jedi cadre.

Its kind of a mind trip to think of it that way, but it fits. The force over all.

New episode! I liked this one. A further rationalization on the Trade Federation neutrality thing. I was ready to hate this one because it stars the Lucas family, but thank god they didn't actually voice them :p I did think it was hilarious that George Lucas' alter ego is the fastest shot in the galaxy though  And isn't this the first substantial Asoka appearance this season?

A very entertaining episode! I liked the many homages to the films -- plenty of intrigue and fun. And Anakin's little ploy to set Ahsoka loose was very interesting.

Oh, the whole family was modeled on Lucas's? Hm, and here I was thinking how cool it was that the character designers had decided to create some female characters who weren't skinny and beautiful but were more average-looking.

I found it odd that Greedo was shown speaking English; if he could do that, why was he speaking Huttese or whatever in his scene with Han Solo in the movie?

And I kept waiting for some kind of in-joke about Greedo shooting first, but they never went there. I guess Lucas probably isn't as fond of that meme as the rest of us are.

Isn't it impressive that those tables in the cantina were made of blaster-proof wood? ;) Although, of course, there are plenty of improbably bulletproof things in countless other action shows.

Ahsoka's getting pretty good with the Jedi skills. Both the mind trick and a spot of levitation. Nice to see her striking out on her own, and holding her own.

I'm sorry but this season is off to one hell of a boring start. It's making season two look awesome and I didn't like season two all that much. And next week... oh great... a Padme episode.

I did find it interesting when the Chairman stated he was a friend of Jabba. Not too many heads of state would admit to that.

These are definitely dubious choices for the opening episodes of the new season. We're four in and we've only had one traditional war episode so far.

While the episodes themselves haven't, on average, been as good as I would have hoped, I actually like that we're not being given war episode after war episode. They are expanding the canvas a bit, and that's definitely a good thing.

I just think they are building up the tension of the season. The trailer at comic con after all was just a taste of what they're planning for the season. The stuff they've shown now is just the calm before the storm.

I thought it was a good episode myself. Personally, I prefer it when they shake things up with the episodes.

It was odd, I rationalized that he knew Solo would understand him so he spoke with what he was most comfortable with. I mean, he understood Solo it would seem reasonable he could speak it if he has the capacity for human speech. That said, I'm still glad he says "Oota goota, Solo?" in the movie.

Maybe the cantina owners specifically require it. :)

I really liked last night's episode. I was worried after last week's snoozefest but this week was reassuring. I don't mind if they do a nontraditional war episode as long as it's interesting and used sparingly. For this show I prefer more slam bang action.

It's just like Bossk speaking English, which I would call a huge faux pas. Apparently the lil' tykes this show is aimed at can't be trusted to be able ( or willing ) to read subtitles. And what's with two different pronuciations of "Twi'lek" in the same episode? Choose a side already, you fence-straddling ass spelunkers. Here's a clue: "Twee-lek" really sucks.

I think "Assassin" is the first episode this season I've really enjoyed. It's certainly a refreshing improvement on those tedious Mandalore episodes of the past two weeks. Cool to see an episode focusing so heavily on the ladies, and it's good to see that Aurra Sing survived (as I knew she would, since her ship crashed behind a convenient mountain). Ahsoka harnessing her Force visions was interesting, her relationship with Padme was agreeably warm, and I loved the way Padme took Aurra down at the climax.

Also some nifty touches for OT fans. It was cool to see Alderaan back in the days before its total existence failure. I don't think I've ever seen Alderaan's surface except very briefly at the end of ROTS. It's a pretty planet. And it was awesome that the arrival on Alderaan was accompanied by an extended quote of "Leia's Theme" -- the second bit of John Williams scoring in the episode, after a brief quote of "Yoda's Theme" in his scene with Ahsoka. A refreshing change from the usual lack of melodic music or leitmotifs in this series, which to me has always kept it from feeling enough like Star Wars. Plus we see Ahsoka and Padme playing the holographic "chess" game from ANH -- and the animators even preserved the jerky stop-motion look! (And there was at least one Alderaanian woman seen with a "cinnamon buns" hairdo, though not exactly like Leia's.)

Hmm, apparently this is the third episode of TCW written by George Lucas's daughter Katie. The second was the recent one featuring Baron Papanoida and his family, who were modelled on GL and his daughters.

"Assassin" was one of two episodes I've liked so far this year (bad track record!). Good character episode for Ashoka; I think this is taking her further down the dark path. It wasn't a war/action episode but it managed to be consistently entertaining throughout.

This reminds me, why the hell haven't we had any Yoda starring episodes since the pilot?! He's my favorite Star Wars character! They need to fill up a hundred episode order, why not use the green guy more!
