News Star Wars Andor anticipation thread

So i read today that the show will be set 5 years before Rogue One.
In the same news piece it also mentioned the return of some Star Wars characters and a rumored return of one major major Star Wars character.

Snoke
I bet some people will hate that but it's definitely a character worth exploring more.
While I would want the character to be explored this makes no sense.

Maybe Palpatine based him on someone. Or Palps has been experimenting for longer than we thought (maybe he wanted a less charred body ever since Mace deflected the lightning back and Vader got roasted by Obi-wan). Since the Chosen One got messed up, and Palps might not have known about Luke, maybe he started early? (The impression given by Rise of Skywalker is that Palpatne was going to take over Anakin's body at some point when it was stronger than Palpatine's own body).

That's possible but I would be surprised if they involve this character at all.

I don't think they explicitely stated that he was a clone in the movie, right?
True, Snoke being a clone is from the novelization. In the movie itself, Palpatine does say he created Snoke, so if this rumor is correct, it raises the question why did Palpatine create Snoke five years prior to the OT and what was he doing the rest of the time before TFA?

Eh? I thought Palpatine intentionally arranged for Anakin to have his accident in Mustafar specifically so he never became too powerful?

Palpatine seems disappointed with Vader after he's in the suit. I mean, he's still a useful apprentice, but Vader's limited now by the damage he suffered. Either Palpatine plans to live forever via clones, or he needs a new host to have his Sith Eternal Empire. What better host than the Chosen One? The being with the highest midiclorian count on record.

I‘m hoping for baby Snoke. If they can make Yoda cute, why not?

This logic might lead to the appearance of a Vader clone in the mando era.

Perhaps, but given what we found of in Rise of Skywalker, it seems more likely by that point Palpatine was more invested in making clone bodies of himself. And when those failed to properly contain him...let one go to breed, then take over the heir to the empire.

Honestly, Rise of Skywalker indicates a lot more of what Palpatine's original plan might be. Especially since the ROTS novel alludes to the "ultimate goal of the Sith" is eternal life, but they can never achieve it. So, I would surmise that Palpatine expected Vader to attempt to kill him as part of the way of the Sith, but then Palpatine's spirit would be able to take over Vader's body at that point. But, when Vader became suit bound he was no longer viable. So Palpatine had to figure out multiple backup plans to live forever.

"So, the first thing we've gotta do, is cut that scene in Rogue One where Cassian kills his informant, because an honorable hero would never do that. The Disney+ version can be changed right away, but we'll also need to recall as many unsold discs as possible."

... Seriously, who actually wants this?
A bit late with my response, but... GL could change it so the other guy shot first.

Also, it's interesting looking back at the beginning of this thread when we assumed that all streaming shows would get a home media disc release... And here I am still waiting for some shiny steelbooks of The Mandalorian to proudly display on my shelf. Not to mention a mock VHS box for Stranger Things 3.

Yeah, it's hard to be excited when we don't even have a story trailer yet, or even know really what the show is going to be about (beyond the obvious.)
Though that it's getting a second season already without even gauging the audience reaction certainly seems like a big vote of confidence from LF & Disney.

Maybe we will see a bright and hopeful Cassian who eventually becomes the cynical character we saw in the movie. That might be kind of cliche, though. He did say he was in this fight since he was six years old. Or was it twelve? So undoubtedly, he's already seen (and done) plenty of bad stuff before adulthood.

It seems to be more and more common for shows to be renewed for a second season before the first one airs. With complicated shows like this, I can see where they would want to renew early to give them a chance to get started back up quickly, and have a smaller gap between seasons.

IIRC he was a child soldier on the Separatist side of the Clone Wars, so it's never ended for him. Somehow I doubt that'll produce an "optimistic" personality. To a person with that kind of world view, optimism just means "maybe I'll die fast enough that I won't feel it".

So, apparently Andor will run 12 episodes!
And also apparently .. Mon mothma will play a big role. .. But still no K2SO.. Bummer..
