Star Trek XII New Information Thread

Hey, you remember!

Made an impact, that corridor!

Makes me miss the Shouting Spock thread, too.... *sigh*

What about the Badass Captain Robau Comic Book Cover (capitalised for obvious reasons)? Remember that one? It was awesome...almost as awesome as the Great Robau himself.

Hey, do you remember back in 2008 or so, we got a half-lit pic of a corridor, and we spent weeks analysing that? Everyone going "wah, it's dark and gritty! Star Trek isn'r supposed to be dark and gritty! Damn you, JJ Abrams!"

...

Oh, the nostalgia.

No, no, no... you're doing it all wrooooong! "Bazinga" is the new Chic Geek term. It is so sad seeing old folks trying to act cool. :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

[I know. I'm a baaaad boy, but I just couldn't resist.]

Chris, Zoe and Zachery are all at the Independent Spirit Awards…hopfully we will get more information about ST XII

And there were a good many people going "waahhh, it'll be dark and gritty like nuBSG! Somebody call a waaaambulance!"

I remember it like it was yesterday.

:p

:p
And then they saw the shiny, shiny bridge.

Later still, someone was asking whether anyone thought the movie hadn't been Dark & Gritty enough?

Now THIS is what I'm talking about! Some nice behind the scenes images that don't ruin the overall plot whatsoever.

I like those slotted girder things that they are standing on.
Spoiler alert! In Trek XII people stand on things.
It reminds me of in Trek XI when Kirk, Sulu and ensign redshirt stood on that mining drill thing.

I'll be honest with everyone. From what I'm hearing from the Ridley Scott fanboi crowd over at AICN, Prometheus is going to set the bar pretty high for Trek the following year. This thing blows away Cameron's Avatar, apparently, as an introduction to how things came to be in the Alien Universe.

Give Ridley Scott money and a camera, and you have a potential for gold standard film-making.

There's nothing in the trailer released yesterday that justifies that assertion. But then, as you say, we're hearing from Ridley Scott fanbois.

It's a nice-looking movie, but Cameron's film isn't in any danger either in terms of box office or craft - and the Star Trek folk needn't be concerned either. Avatar II will look like Avatar, Star Trek II will look like Star Trek, and Prometheus will look like a surprising less sophisticated version of Alien - and all of them will do just fine.
