Way to jump to conclusions... maybe it was T'Pau or T'Pol... maybe it was the Romulan Commander... and even if the picture was of Nu!T'Pring, she was a great character with her own agenda. . .we don't know if she and Spock were bonded in the new universe, and she never WANTED Spock for himself in the old one, so why would that change?

Well, Stonn was a Vulcan Prince, and this be the reason T'Pring wanted him more than Spock, who was just an Ambassador's son. Now, Spock is a hero of the Federation. That brings with it status and power, which is what she would be coveting.

Paramount has finally officially rescheduled their big Star Trek sequel. In a phone call about all of Paramount's potential franchises, Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman said that the second Star Trek is being developed for a a potential 2013 release,

Wow. I'm just flabbergasted they're letting this franchise slip away from them again. We should be on our 20th DVD/Blu-ray viewing of Trek XII by now, and talking about the final film in the nuTrilogy coming out next year. I just don't understand how they let this slip by them so badly.

I don't know what you guys are worried about. If it is released in 2013, its released in 2013. Id rather them make it right then try to rush it out for a 2012 release. I'd rather have The Dark Knight then Transformers 2 thank you very much.

This franchise can not survive on Trekkies paying for tickets. It became a buonafied hit because the public embraced it. A public with a short attention span and a short attention span with a newly invigorated franchise at that.
It was absurd that they did not have any semblance of a plan in place to capitalize on the first film. They had absolutley no contingency in place. No idea for a followup script, no actors in place and no commitment from Abrams. Name another huge franchise with that half assed an approach. It could kill the possibility of future films because they were too f-ing shortsighted to be able to take advantage of their success

This isn't the 80's and Paramount isn't going to Green light a film every threee years if it doesn't make a sh*t pot of money

It's not being half assed, its the fact that both the people who wrote it, and the man who directed it are some of the most sought after people in Hollywood today. They all had other projects to work on and other things that they were obligated to. Now that that is done, they are getting back together and getting ready for the next film, to make sure it's done right and not half assed. Can you say that you would have rather had a half assed film released now, rather then a quality film that may take a bit longer?

You can have both, quality and expediency. Neither is mutually exclusive. And it is half assed to not have ANY plan in place for a followup. No other major franchise works this way especially a money making franchise.

Is "they're required to go away after three no matter how much $$$ they make" going to be this year's version of "JJ has promised millions of times it won't be a reboot"?

And who are these people who believe you can make something come true just by posting it on the internet over and over again?

Well, the public turned out for XI which wasn't on the heels of ANY previous JJ Trek. Any holdover energy from XI would surely have dissipated after even two years, and the publicity machine would have to crank up again. It's not like it created a whole new gen of Star Trek fans that are gonna dissipate in four years, but wouldn't have in two. It was a big blockbuster movie. So was Thor. One among many.

The first JJ just wasn't my cup of tea, anyway, so I can wait. I was really eager for XI. Live and learn.

Once the Movie Hype Machine kicks in late next year, everyone will know there's a new Trek coming out and be frequently reminded of how good and successful the last one was. I'm not worried about the long wait negatively impacting the film's performence.

But the wait would be a lot easier for this fan if they would release those four nuTrek novels that were written and then cancelled two years ago.
