Star Trek XI - Will Simply be Awesome - It's about time!

Anyone have an original version of TMP? I can't stand the butchered "Directors Cut" version. ;)

It's available for download on iTunes. The theatrical, not the "Special Longer Version" nor the DVD DE.

Special Longer Version?!?! You're not pullin my leg are you?
I don't touch anything Apple, but thanks. :bolian:

It was released on DVD right? Was thinking of checking some pawn shops and such.

I am one of those few who tracked "enterprise" as it was release episode by episode. I was really into it here as "the Trek BBS" was huge in keeping folks talking about it show by show...I thought the Zindi Wars (my name) Episodes were the apex of the show...not enough to save the francise however....I think this new Star Trek will open it up to a whole new generation of fans....wishful thinking at its best.

Then let's have a continuity wrecking death of Captain Kirk in front of Scotty who in TNG said, 'Enterprise? I'll bet James Kirk himself brought her out of mothballs'.

Oh, that's a killer right there. I think I remember John Simon became apoplectic and actually had to be hospitalized as a result. He was never the same.

I'm such a diehard completist that even if this movie sucks the big one, I'll still end up adding the DVD to my Trek collection.

I mean, I've got all the other movies. Even TFF and Nemesis. I'm not kidding.

Paramount must love me!

It's about time!

Apparently, yes.

But "Generations" was about time, too, and that one was pretty bad.

I'm trying to figure out what was wrong with Generations, course I'm still trying to figure out what the issues are people have with any Trek movie or series. I'm weird I guess, I like em all...

Well, for me, I grew up with the sentiment that all odd-numbered Treks are bad and all even-numbered Treks are good.

And, for the most part, I'll be damned if I haven't allowed myself to fall for that prejudice.

ST 1 - Too slow and sleepy
ST 2 - Best Trek film EVER
ST 3 - Feels like an alternate ending for ST II s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d into a feature.
ST 4 - Fun movie that used time travel to remind us of why the world of Kirk and Spock was so much better than ours
ST 5 - Oh God!
ST 6 - This was a story that had to be told, to explain how the Klingons get to be in the Federation in the Next Generation.
ST 7 - I don't think we ever needed a changing of the guard story. Did we?

But even the bad ones had some redeemable parts to them:

ST 1 - Phenomenal ambience and feeling of being aboard a real starship that I don't think any other film has quite captured for me.
ST III - Gave us the Merchantman, BoP, Excelsior, AND Grissom!
ST 5 - Gave us the best bridge design for a hero ship in the TOS movies, and a good depiction of the shuttlebay, too.
ST 7 - Gave us the Whorfin, and Worf in the drink. AND Sulu as Captain.

So, it's a balance, I guess. And I'm a film fan in general. So, a film has to really do something to me in a primal way (to make it a complete waste of my money and/or time), so I'm not the harshest critic.

Hey All!

:) Hi - I'm excited about this movie!

Everything I have seen of this thus far looks extremely promising!

I can't wait!
