Star Trek XI - Will Simply be Awesome - It's about time!

The film could very well suck, but that trailer hooked me like any other action/adventure trailer.

I for one can't wait.

Generations wasn't the greatest movie ever, but I liked it, one of my favourites.

Nemesis was a bit of a confused jumble of kewl stuff that didn't make much sense to me, I still watch it from time to time though. It has its merits.

I have no time for insurection though, it was a change of pace from First Contact, but it just doesn't tickle my fancy.

So long as the wife enjoys the new film, and therefore didn't make her endure a rancid pile of cack, I shall be happy whatever.

You're joking, right? First, let's kill off Jean-Lucs brother and nephew 'burned to death, sob, in a fire'. Then let's have a continuity wrecking death of Captain Kirk in front of Scotty who in TNG said, 'Enterprise? I'll bet James Kirk himself brought her out of mothballs'. Then, let's have an 80 year old Klingon BOP with a crew of what, 18? destroy the Enterprise D. Just because it would LOOK COOL. Then, let's kill Captain Kirk by dropping a bridge on him. I could go on, but...what's the point? IT SUCKED ALMOST AS BAD AS NEMESIS.

No I'm not joking. I happen to be a Star Trek fan. I like Star Trek.

TOS,TAS,TNG,DS9,VOY,ENT,I-XI.

I don't care how they killed Kirk, they did. I don't care why
the Enterprise-D was destroyed, it happened.
I don't care if you think Nemesis sucked, it was awesome.
The point is it's part of the story, part of a huge ever evolving
Universe that branches off, forward and backward, in all directions.
I accept the good with the bad because as a whole no Universe is perfect,
Trek is not oblivious to that. It all makes one-big-fucking-awesome-epic-Universe of
characters, events and places.

And I get to enjoy all of it.

LOL!!!!!!!!!! This is a joke, right? How can you enjoy it ALL?
I like Star Trek.

So, basically, you don't have ANY critical thought process at all, you'll simply enjoy ANYTHING with the word "Star Trek" in the title, even the episodes of Voyager about the holographic Irish village and Fat Riker rolling about with a vampire in Nemesis? Oh boy...

So, basicaly, you didn't read what I said.

I said I take the BAD with the GOOD.
I do have plenty of critical thoughts on every iteration and form of
Star Trek and have even debated it heavily with friends
and associates and on these boards.
I just choose to keep that seperate from my enjoyment.
I can sit through every Trek series and movie and not one
thing will bother me and keep me from deeply enjoying it.

I am a Star Trek fan. I think a lot about Trek, each story I see and what
could have been done one way or the other and what made sense and what didn't.
But at the end of the day, well it already happened and I can't help it.
So I enjoy it for what it is. Another part of the Trek saga.

And so plain and simple I like Star Trek, and I get to enjoy all of it.

I like Star Trek.

I like Star Trek, too, probably a bit more than I should. And overall, it is a great universe with a lot of potential. That's why I get annoyed with the crap that gets made under the 'franchise.' I also like good stories, done well, and Trek has not had an abundance of those in the last decade

after all its been said before any Trek on screen is better than no Trek.

Yeah, it's been said. Not everything that gets said is a good idea, though. Trek lives or dies by its reputation and its ability to attract enough interest to continue - so by definition, bad Trek is not better than no Trek - it's the reason for no Trek.

Eh, to each their own. I've seen Trek that isn't as good as SOME previous Trek, but nonetheless still Star Trek and still part of it all. So I enjoy.:)

It's about time!

Apparently, yes.

But "Generations" was about time, too, and that one was pretty bad.

I'm trying to figure out what was wrong with Generations, course I'm still trying to figure out what the issues are people have with any Trek movie or series. I'm weird I guess, I like em all...

Generations was AMAZING for an episode of TNG. As big budget movie it was a bit flat. The way they killed Kirk was idiotic. I could have come up with a better ending.

The only movie that was a "disgrace" was The Final Frontier. That movie was horrible, even if it were an episode. Surely the "Spock's Brain" or "Shades of Gray" of all the movies.

What was wrong with those episodes? And for that matter Final Frontier? I keep hearing these things suck but never a decent reason why outside of personal preference, because that's really the only deciding factor.

I am expecting this movie to rank up there with TWOK. I believe that Zachary Quinto (Sylar) as spock will be special...:klingon:. I may or may not like kirk as much but if he overacts like shatner that might be cool, in a down memory lane kinda way.

I'm looking forward to Pine as Kirk and Greenwood as Pike more than any other actors in the movie - the little bits with them in the trailer just intrigue me more than, say, Quinto.

Although I expect Pegg will be a hoot and a half as well. ;)

I think they all look good in the roles, but the one I am liking more everyday is Urban as McCoy, he just seems to have it down perfect in the trailer and then his interviews are all very good.

i agree. i think greenwood was an excellent choice to play pike.he kinda has that jeffrey hunter look going on.i can't wait to see him in that role. btw, pegg is funny as hell.

Forgive me for trying to bottom line this movie...I guess I am. It just feels like something big, huge and fun is about to happen to the franchise...So I am very optimistic...
