Star Trek TOS Re-Watch

The time ship UFO vehicle is cool. The segment between Kirk and the rational Lazarus in the alternate universe is my favorite part of the episode.

The question has been raised around here in the past, as to how Star Trek came by Lazarus' ship. They had a very limited budget, and we know they could not build much curved structure for the shuttlecraft. It had to be mostly straight lines.

So where did they get the time ship? We never found an answer. And we never saw it again, except for the clear dome on top, which showed up in "Gamesters" as a sneeze guard for the Providers.

I wonder if it was like the phaser rifle: some prop man in town built it from scratch and loaned it to the show for WNMHGB, and then he took it back when Roddenberry wouldn't buy it.

There's things to like in The Lazarus Effect.

Mudd's Women is the worst of Season 1.

I like the good Lazarus, and I like I, MUDD more than some (and more than MUDD'S WOMEN).

Still, there's not much wrong with Season One episodes...and I think this may be the first time I've seen THE ALTERNATIVE FACTOR not achieve worst-of-season status.

Even the worst of Season 1 is still pretty good.

My favourite is What Are Little Girls Made Of?

I'd watch The Alternate Factor on repeat all day before sitting through Charlie X again. It's even more fun than The Devil in the Dark, which I find to be a slog.

The last time I did a TOS rewatch it was Shore Leave which dragged for me. It's just so repetitive!

I thoroughly enjoy the Alternative Factor and find it incredibly interesting. Vs. Charlie X which is uncomfortable, or even The Enemy Within.

Alternative Factor on the "Worst of" lists baffles me.

I enjoyed myself most of the time while watching it, but compared to the majority of the rest of the season, it's got Some Issues. I think that comparison is why it shows up on "worst of" lists. Mostly, I just wish it was *better* - the premise and set up were good.

Maybe musically. But since Finnegan was meant to be annoying, I see no additional evidence with your statement.
Musically and narratively, evidence of which is in the episode itself.
Finnegan being annoying does not mean that his actions have to be repetitive.

Finnegan was meant to be annoying

Too bad his older self didn't make an appearance in the prime universe (apparently his alt self was in Beyond) so we could see how much was Kirk's dislike of the guy and how much was Finnegan being a jerk. Or, alternately, how much he's changed.

Between Finney and Finnegan, Kirk didn't have very good experiences.
