Star Trek TNG Blu-Ray S1 Pricing

That's what people paid for TOS-R when it came out. Until US stores start listing a pre-order for TNG-R it's impossible to know what the street price will be.

Just wondering, where did you get that 65 dollar deal? Cause I would pay 65 dollars.

Amazon currently has the three seasons packaged together for $184 which averages to $61.33 a season.

Individual seasons look to be going for between sixty and seventy-five dollars.

Looks like they run basically the same price at Walmart.com as well. Their NextGen preorder price is $78.86.

Per Trekweb, the official SRP is $118. Not sure what the Amazon discount will be yet, but will probably be in that 80 dollar range.

Odd amazon.com doesn't have a pre-order price yet. Amazon.ca pre-order price is $83.99. That's not that bad actually. If I were to get it from amazon.com it would probably be more once shipping has been added, but from .ca I wouldn't pay shipping.

I might go for this.

Amazon usually only puts up a pre-order status when they're 100% sure of a release date.

Thedigitalbits reported the confirmed street date (July 24) on the first of May. So Amazon's had plenty of time to put up a preorder.

Who knows what Amazon's criteria are. Maybe they're not confident in the July 24 date.

Well, I already submitted DVD Empire's and Walmart's lower prices to them. I suppose if enough of us do it, it'll come down.

That's odd. Amazon giving the list price as $129.99 when others have it listed as $118.00 or lower.

DVD Planet is now down to $71.79 with free shipping. That's starting to sound better! Hopefully Amazon will eventually lower their price to $69.99 (or even $64.99) and everyone else will follow suit.

I'm not sure I'll have the patience to wait for mail delivery though, so hopefully the in-store prices will be fairly decent as well.

With Amazon preorders, I usually order and then let it sit. With almost anything pricey I've purchased from Amazon, the cost goes down steadily, and if you have your preorder in early enough you'll catch the lowest price it hits before it's released.

I'd happily pay it for season 3, or even season 2. I just don't like season 1 enough to pay full price, though I may end up doing it anyway.

Is there any news about the packaging? I hope these sets won't be in the massive clunky boxes like the original DVD releases. I prefer things that take up as little shelf space as possible. I would hate to buy these just to see smaller packaging released afterwards like last time.

The TNG sets should each be no thicker than the TOS-R Season 3 set which holds six discs and is approximately 5/8 of an inch thick (about 16mm) with the slipcover. So we're looking at 4-3/8 inches for the whole set on the shelf (about 112mm). As a comparison, my original TNG DVDs take up a whopping 14-1/4 inches of shelf space!

As I said in the other thread about price, they should be no more than $30-40/set. That's what shows that cost 10x as much to put on DVD from the ground up sell for.

CBS is ripping anyone paying even the Amazon/Wal-Mart price off by a factor of 100% or more.

And there's no DVD release for those of us who can't afford a Blu Ray player, so even more shafting is going on.

They charge what people are willing to pay. Personally, for all the work they've done bringing one of my favorite series to HD, I'm willing to pay eighty dollars a season.

Plus, if you want to keep up with the newest releases, it might be time to get a Blu-ray player.
