Looks like they're going for the same price range as the DVDs. I'm glad they didn't jack them up even higher, but get your credit cards ready!

Here's the bottom line for me. TNG isn't my favourite series even though there's quite a few episodes I like in it. BluRay over the past few years has really crashed in general and $118 is asking way too much in my view even with the remastering. If I could get them at maybe $90 then I'd consider it more seriously, but as is I'm not paying more than that.

I got my DVD sets for about $60 each and I'm not inclined to pay more than about $10 more than that.

So I guess I won't be buying until the pricing comes down to earth. As much as I'd like to have them they're simply asking too much.

Regardless of the work they put into them, they can't pass that along to us...especially when so many fans have already spent 125+ for each season of TNG on DVD. I'll pay $80/ set and no more. I threw away my credit cards and live on cash only. If these can't fit into a reality based budget, I won't be buying them. I really hate how everyone just expects consumers to buy everything on credit. It's foolish.

No. Sorry, but no. That's excessive pricing for one season of a tv show. It seems like they learned absolutely nothing from the ridiculous pricing of the original DVD seasons.

No question the pricing on the original DVDs sets was absolutely ridiculous ($120 for quality that wasn't much better than VHS?), which is why I thankfully stayed away.

But $80 to see TNG in high-definition, blu-ray quality-- for the first time ever-- seems more than worth it to me. Regardless of how much work was put into it, that would still be a pretty special thing, I would think.

This is really disappointing. I never bought TNG or DS9 on DVD simply because of the price and I really wanted them.

I really want to get this remastered TNG, but at $118? I don't think so... :(

Ummm...well, actually that's exactly what they can, will, and should be doing. That's the whole point of paying for something - especially paying for it again, the expectation being that they've done something to it to make it worth our money a second (third, fourth, et al) time.

I'm not a fan of TOS-R, but in that case they were giving people something they'd never seen before: new, never before seen f/x. In TNG-R they're only giving you enhanced picture quality and not (to my knowledge) new f/x sequences.

Fact is Star Trek still has some cache attached to its name and CBS (or whomever) feel they can still charge you for that.

I know what it's like to convince yourself into paying something extra for something you'd really like to have. But with age and experience I don't feel that pressure the same way anymore. I like to think I've learned a better sense of value.

And so in this case I can afford to wait for when the season sets will be more reasonably priced.

Seems like they learned exactly what fans are willing to pay. Fans paid those prices when the DVDs came out. Eventually when the earlier adopters stopped buying they lowered the price to attract more fans. I'm sure that's exactly what they'll do here. But what they learned from the DVDs remains the same, Trek fans view Trek as a premium product and will pay inflated prices for it.

"$118 suggested retail" is just a number pulled out of the air by the marketing department.

If anyone pays that price (at least in the US) they are fools.

All of the big online stores and their affiliates will have it for the "special/exclusive" price of $89.99 or less at the beginning, then, after the initial rush of hardcore fans, prices go down, then the holiday season starts and prices go down again.

To the American's there is always the possibility that it'll be an all region release and you can import it.

$80 is too much for me at the moment; I'll wait for it to drop to $50 (the same price I bought each season of the original Star Trek for on Blu-Ray). They've put a lot of work into this release, it seems (although it still pales in comparison to the season sets of The Twilight Zone), but, well, I'm rather poor right now.

I'm thinking of just waiting for the entire boxset to come out. By the time it rolls around it should be cheaper to buy that than 7 seperate seasons.

Ill wait till it drops to 70 Dollars.

Why is it almost 120 dollars for only the first season. Seems a bit overkill at that price.
