The DE team has answered my prayers in giving me almost exactly the set I've been dreaming of... and it's scary how close it matches the idea I had nearly one year ago today, down to the name of the documentary:

Same here. I even had an idea for my ideal TMP blu-ray set that I shared on here a while ago, but I think it bears repeating:
  • Disc 1
    • The Director's Edition
      • 2001 Commentary by Robert Wise, Jerry Goldsmith, Douglas Trumbull, John Dykstra, and Stephen Collins
      • 2007 Commentary by Michael Matessino, Daren Dochterman, and David C. Fein
      • Subtitle Fact Track
  • Disc 2
    • The Theatrical Version
      • 2009 Commentary by Michael & Denise Okuda, Judith & Garfield Reeves-Stevens, and Daren Dochterman
      • Isolated soundtrack, featuring Jerry Goldsmith's Oscar-nominated score
The "Special Longer Version," presented via seamless branching with the theatrical version
      • Possible commentary track?
  • Disc 3 - Special Features
    • The Human Adventure Is Just Beginning - A new, feature-length documentary covering the long road in making The Motion Picture a reality and the reaction to the film, using new and archival interviews with cast and crew, footage shot during the 1978-79 production by a crew hired to film behind-the-scenes developments, and possibly interviews with notable fans of TMP. I'm thinking a documentary of the same kind of scope as those done by Charles de Lauzirika for Ridley Scott's films, particularly the docs for Blade Runner, Gladiator, and Kingdom of Heaven.
    • New and Previously-Released Featurettes
      • The Script's The Thing: TMP Files at the Margaret Herrick Library - a new, separate featurette covering the tumultuous writing process of the movie, told through the copious drafts and revisions held at the MHL in Los Angeles, and possibly the Robert Wise Papers held at USC. This would look at the process less in terms of Harold Livingston and Gene Roddenberry fighting with each other, but more as a history of how the script and story evolved.
      • Star Trek: Phase II
      • Redirecting the Future
      • A Bold New Enterprise
      • The Longest Trek: Writing the Motion Picture
      • Special Star Trek Reunion
      • Starfleet Academy: The Mystery Behind V'Ger
    • Advertising
      • Trailers and TV Promos
    • Never-Before-Seen Deleted Scenes and Outtakes (probably the biggest "if..." of the set, depending on if any of the footage and audio still exists)
      • "Never look a gift Vulcan in the ears, Jim."
      • The Security Guard Gets Zapped
      • The Memory Wall
        • Also featuring V'Ger Trench set test footage
      • Decker and Ilia in Engineering
      • Security Guard Counted Among Missing Crew
    • Storyboard and Production Art Galleries

I've preordered the Complete Adventure.

They said three more deleted scenes, Scotty being one of them. The only other unseen material I can think of that we might see, is a) the security guard getting zapped and b) Kirk about to order Scotty to go ahead and set off the self-destruct before Spock/Decker begs him to hold off; "We still have a few minutes. We can still save V'Ger and ourselves."

Much as I'd love to see a complete assembly of the Memory Wall sequence, with or without finished SFX and CGI stuntmen, I reckon that's just too much to hope for amid this otherwise utter embarrassment of riches. :adore:
Three new scenes? That's news to me. Exciting! I would love to see more of the Memory Wall.

Ok, it’s £60 for effectively one film. But dammit Jim, take my latinum!

This is exactly what I’ve been asking for - a deluxe release of all three versions of the film, including the SLV. This is just perfect and I’m so pleased Paramount are finally taking Star Trek seriously on home media.

As it’s probably the last time I ever buy this film, I will make it so.

That's my take too. The fact that I've deliberately skipped all the blu ray releases (bar the kelvin trilogy) means that I can splurge on these 4k versions and I'll be getting enough of an upgrade to justify the purchase.

Same here, the only TOS film I have on blu-ray is the TWOK DC, so I haven't really bought these films on disc since the DVDs came out twenty years ago. Though I did buy the 10-film set on iTunes at a very low price last year, so if I'm honest with myself I may not bother to buy the rest of the films on 4K disc until they've dropped in price.

Me too! And I was so delighted when they automatically updated the files to the brand new masters. I don’t know if they’re 4k or not but I don’t have a 4k tv so it doesn’t matter. They look fantastic to me regardless.

Wait, that is the UK release? is the US getting a full release? (no pun intended lol)

The UK version seems to be a 5 disc set, with BDs for the theatrical and DE. I'm assuming the theatrical will just be the regular BD from the other set and won't have the SLV, leaving that a 4K exclusive.

Would be good to get that confirmed.

I'm absolutely getting the TMP set as soon as it comes out, simply because my DVD is almost unwatchable these days and I'm really looking forward to seeing it, closely followed by TWOK. I'll get the rest individually as and when.

It adds up. A UHD for the Director's Cut, one for the theatrical/broadcast versions, a Blu-Ray for the DC, the one that already exists for the theatrical, and a final Blu-Ray for extras.

I dislike that Blu-Ray is effectively getting hosed with the domestic release. I won't be getting this. I could play it, but my TV wouldn't give a damn. The full movie set seems to be the way to go. And even that deal is kind of a ripoff, with what's already been released.

Are they not going to make V & Vi available separately? That's quite annoying although I can live without them. I've pre-ordered the limited edition.

It's just less than ideal. People bought the I-IV box on good faith.
