The idea is to talk about synchronizations and tranlations into other languages here.
My mother language is German, my English is not perfect but I understand most of it.
Often I watch episodes and movies in German and English to compare it what can be interesting. Sure, the original version is always the best.
Anyway, Star Trek translations can be confusing and they can be a mess as well. Often theyre not even translations and result in something very different. And it starts with the titels. The German name for TOS was "Raumschiff Enterprise" what means "Starship Enterprise". The German name for TNG was "Das nächste Jahrtausend" what means "The Next Millenium". The German titles for many episodes have nothing to do with the original titles. And I don't know why they do that. I don't know about other languages though, is it that bad, too?
I was also confused by the word "Sol" for speed. I found out it's the German word for "Warp" but they don't always use it, one time they say "Sol", another time they say "Warp". At least in TOS.
These are some first thoughts. Maybe you want to add yours.
