The holder of my own opinion, which I am free to express.

It seems extreme to me. Like/dislike all you want. I'm just saying that it seems odd to me that out of everything *this* is the one you deem un-rewatchable.

You say out of the other junk there's aspects you can find to enjoy in them but this one even the good character stuff isn't enough to get you to maybe rewatch it someday? I don't know, it just seems odd to me. Then one episode I can fully say I won't rewatch is a dumb clip-show there's no *point* in rewatching.

I shrug and say whatever. You're entitled to your opinion, I have mine.

Again, dislike the episode all you want. You don't have to like it.

Shouldn't be odd to figure out, since I've already stated quite clearly my reason why I won't rewatch. Not going to repeat myself, so if you need a refresher about my reason, please reread my previous post explaining why.

I prefer "Shades of Gay," the knock off Star Trek porno.

There are multiple bad episodes in the franchise. ALL shows have had their clunkers. (Yes, even my personal favorite, DS9.)

Quite. People bang on like Borg group-think about Shades of Grey and Threshold when DS9 did "Profit and Lace".

Has anyone seen an interview anywhere with the composers of the music for this episode?

Haven't seen (nor looked for) an interview but maybe a search on Letters To Cleo will help. The duo that wrote these songs were in/are in that band. You can see the band in the movie "10 Things I Hate About You". (On a side note, the TV series based on the movie starred Ethan Peck).

Good thought! Kay Hanley has a few things on her Twitter account, but no interviews found yet.

All shows having bad episodes doesn't make them all equally bad. Most people are clearly going to have one or a few that are clearly far worse to them than the rest.

Personally, Threshold is just boring and a bit dumb. Profit and Lace has a good amount of cringe but I actually like the story about convincing them to let women buy and own things and its genuinely difficult for me to seriously dislike any Armin Shimmerman performance. Shades of Grey was the most painful experience I've ever had trying to watch Trek.

I liked most of "Threshold". I thought the last 5 to 10 minutes were dumb. I don't even remember the other two episodes.

By the way, when will the showrunner stop trying to transform "SNW" into the "Galloping Gourmet" in scenes with Pike? It seems my family cannot decide whether this series should be regarded as a sci-fi one or part of the Food Channel.

I still totally believe Sisko as a chef when he's cooking.

Out of universe, the show likely didn't have a budget to allow for an actual kitchen in his quarters. SNW definitely has the budget for it... just look at the size of the quarters for everyone.

In universe, not only were replicators a staple for every quarters and a kitchen made basically redundant due to how advanced replicators are in that era, which is over 100 years after SNW, but it was a Cardassian station. They had different priorities when designing and building the station. (Raised lip at the entrance to every section and door, for example.)

Avery Brooks sold his performance as 'Chef Sisko' whenever he did so. And it was a nice added layer to the character that not only humanizes him and makes him relatable, but it was another example of the kind of personality Sisko has... being a builder. (Engineering background, helping to rebuild Bajor, being a father and building a life for his family, being a chef.) Each captain had that one thing that was almost a reflection of how that show was... for example, Picard was a diplomat and very, very moral and TNG was definitely the most utopian of the shows. Another example, Janeway was a scientist by training, and 'anomaly of the week' and science/technobabble was definitely VGR's thing.

With DS9, Sisko was a builder, and DS9 was building a life and a world for its people.
