It would be kind of hilarious if it turns out that Klingon opera is actually just boy band/K-Pop. Watch DS9 now and think about that every time Worf waxes nostalgic for Klingon opera!!!
We've heard Klingon opera a few times before though

And speaking of ridiculous dance numbers... the Enterprise and the 2 Klingon ships apparently dancing. STARSHIPS DANCING IN SPACE?! WTF was I watching.
Haven't seen 2001, the Blue Danube spaceplane & station waltz? That's what it reminded me of.

I really want an Uhura/Spock duet in a future episode. I feel like their voices would sound great together (reminiscent of Tara and Giles in Buffy) plus there’s precedent in TOS so it wouldn’t be contrived.
Happened in S1E2, their hit single "Ba ba ba bammm" :D

I love 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, but I never took that scene as the ship or station dancing in space.

The Enterprise and both Klingon ships, the way they spin around during the song, certainly look far more dancelike than the 2001 scene you are referring to.

I half expected Dead Or Alive to play while those ships were spinning...

Like a record, baby
Right round, round, round

Not into the musical theater episodes. Hated the Buffy one, and this wasn't much better. You could not pay me to suffer through a musical of any kind.

I dunno man. I don't think it's the fact that she was willing to break up with him to pursue the fellowship that broke his heart. I think it was the fact that she didn't trust him enough to come to him with the news first, and that she immediately jumped to assuming he was going to ask her to stay when all he asked was why she didn't talk to him before literally everyone else.
Yes, it is clear that shutting him off bothered him and bothered him a lot, but what is it she's sung right before Spock walks out of the lounge? It's what I said, that she's willing and ready to break up, if it is necessary. And I just said it was all too much for him to deal with, not what was the one thing that broke his heart. That said, the play on words with "ex" and "X" implies that breaking up is one of the major things bothering him; that's textual.

Best episode of the entire series so far. Amazing music, fantastic lyrics, and a beautiful script.
I was dubious that a musical episode of Star Trek could work. I've never been happier to be proved wrong.
This is the first episode my wife and I immediately rewatched. We enjoyed it even more the second time.

Sure, but I don't think Spock views the act of taking the fellowship as being what marked her dumping him. I think in his mind it is the lack of trust and automatic assumption that he wouldn't support her decision to take the fellowship that marked the end of their relationship.

I agree completely with the first part, I never said otherwise. As for the second, I'd agree that's among the things bothering him, for sure.

I don’t care much for musicals outside of Grease but as a one off episode of a series they’re very enjoyable.
I've always liked musicals. Maybe from being taken to all those live action and animated Disney and Disney wannabe films as a kid in the 60's. All the musical classics and some not so classic films were heavily reran on TV, too. Stuff with Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, well the list goes on. Later more modern films first run. Grease, Rocky Horror, Hair, Tommy, Blues Brothers...

Just noticed some set decoration in Pike's quarters. Art hung on what looks like drapery. Very TOS
