I put this off for a while, but I got one last order from Master Replica before the end. Given how few of the remaining ships fell into the category of both ones I don't yet have, and ones I'm even mildly interested in, I settled on the Nightingale, the Cousteau, and the Bajoran solar sailor.
I never liked Voyager recycling a Fed fighter as a much larger alien ship, and mainly got the Nightingale for comparison. I think they did a good job with this one. For those who don't know, Robbie and Garrett, having rewatched Voyager for their podcast, are now watching DS9 with Armin and Terry, and are a few eps into season 2. It'll be interesting, once they get to "The Maquis" if Garrett recognizes the ship. (Probably not).
At #18, the solar sailor is, by far, the lowest numbered model I've gotten in years. I still don't know why they did that one so early in the set. (I'd still rather have Degra's ship or the Bajoran scout). It looks and feels incredibly fragile, and given how many stories I've read online of broken ships, I'll have to be careful with this one. I don't really like that the cabin is covered by the clip of the stand in front, but I guess there was nowhere else to put it.
The real standout here is the Coustea. I never liked the "flying saucer" look of the Enterprise-D captain's yacht, and didn't really like the look of this one in the box, but once I opened it, I was pleasantly surprised. I like the softer, rounder nacelles that look reminicent of the Enterprise-D and other TNG era fed ships. Having them slung down ever so slightly, rather than up, looks good, too. Looking at it from the front, or a 45 degree angle, this still looks like kind of a leisure vessel a captain would use to entertain VIP's. With this ship, I now have every ship featured in "Insurrection".
Apart from the tactical cube, there isn't much left out there that interests me. Most of it's kitbashes or other designs I just didn't like, or stuff from never shows and movies I've never gotten into. I never had the money or space for XL's, but I might consider the Oberth and Nebula, because they were technically different ships than the standard sized ones.
I still regret the handful of designs I wanted to see, but never did. (Admit it, that "Vanguard" style Starbase 6 from the remastered "Ultimate Computer" would've been really great), but I'm content with what I have.
I still hope to get a few more "Orville" ships, eventually, though.
