Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

No. GamePrint haven't responded to an email since April. I'm currently embroiled in an attempt to raise a dispute with my bank to try and get the promised refund but I'm not hopeful.
Yeah, I probably should have got on the refund when it was announced they were shutting down, might be too late now. I saw on Reddit that some folks that were waiting on 9” ships got them recently but anything smaller seems to not be happening - also, some folks are still getting refunds out of the blue.

And as if by magic today I received an email from them:

Hello <customer name>,

Due to internal IRL business decisions, we have ceased all 3D model production and refunds are being issued.

Apologies for any inconvenience.

Thank you,
Integral Reality Labs Team

There's no refund in my bank, of course. But I suppose it may take a few days to show up.

Well, that’s a bummer. I successfully got one of my ships done by them many years ago (thanks to Tuskin38 for helping to make it happen because their systems were incompatible with console-sourced designs) and it really was an excellent representation. A shame they couldn’t make it work out.

A little bit of an aside, but I've been checking in on eBay since the end of Master Replicas' run to see just what some people are asking now for Eaglemoss ships. Only out of curiosity. No lie, but one seller is asking $28,999.00 USD for the Enterprise-F in Starfleet livery--and that doesn't include $8.60 USD for shipping and handling.

What's even crazier, is that according to the listing, he's already sold 22 of them and is now down to his last one...
:wtf:

C'mon...

According to the item history, they've adjusted the price 7 times, most recently last week. And because eBay have made it harder to get detailed information on items which sell like this - you used to be able to click on the 'x sold' and find out the sale prices for each one, and the 'Sold Items' filter only shows you the most recent sale now - my guess is that the previous 22 were sold at more reasonable rates, and they bumped the price for the last one in the hopes someone would bite.

[edit]: Actually, they probably meant for that last price to be $289.99, nearly everything else they're selling ends in .99, and they didn't type the dot, so they got $28999.

Yeah, I’m sure this is the case in this instance, but I’ve seen other collectibles sold for like 100x their actual value… which I’m pretty sure is someone money laundering, lol

Got an email from Fanhome confirming the Titan will be the first ship. That it’s 9 inches and will come with a 16 page magazine. The mock-up of the base looks nearly identical to Eaglemoss..

No release date though just a “stay tuned”
They mentioned the stand thing a while back and that the size would be comparable to the Disco/Uni ships. They also hired Ben Robinson, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they are having Eaglemoss’ suppliers making these things — so I’m fully expecting Fanhome to be Eaglemoss Mk2 (hopefully they’ll make better business decisions, and more importantly, no longer mold windows for which they can match the paint masks…).

Since this is where we were talking about it before, in the interest of completeness, I'll mention that at SDCC, Factory Entertainment has announced three new additions to their line of multi-thousand dollar starship models, the Enterprise-E (FC/INS version), the Reliant, and the Phoenix. That's in addition to the current line up of the Enterprise-refit, Enterprise-D, Enterprise-G, and Excelsior.

No official product photography or videos yet, but this video from Tested about the Enterprise-E model goes around the booth and has an interview with the chief model-maker.

Still haven't licked their decal-silvering problem yet. Aside from that, and with the caveat that we haven't gotten the high-res photos and videos we've had of the earlier four models, they do seem have better detailing and quality. I can see a proper aztec pattern on the Reliant, for instance.

As far as I can tell the E is based on the same "semi-official" CG model that Eaglemoss used. Some of the smaller details have been fixed (escape pods on the secondary hull, dark frames around the impulse engines), but the larger shapes are not entirely movie accurate.
