Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Thanks very much! :). Yes, there was a magazine included with each issue. I’m actually still waiting on the final two issues of the subscription (for the past 5 months), but they’re extra parts for the BTTF 3 railroad track conversion which I’m not using, so it’s not that big of a big deal. The main model has been done since December. I had a lot of spare time to work on this during the lockdown last year.

It looks awesome!

Such a shame the Enterprise-D isn't going to be anywhere near that level of quality or accuracy. :(

What's in the magazines aside from assembly instructions? Did they have parts for all 3 versions?

It looks really great! I only have the Welly part 1 and a very inaccurate small one from the ride store, but I'm getting the playmobil one tomorrow :D
And I just got the Haynes manual, so I can tell you all those cables look right ;) XD
Was there a magazine with each issue?
I've got the Playmobil one! Honestly it's great for the price.

Yes, all 3 variants can be made. Not pictured here is the replacement time circuitry tray that was attached to the front lid (a.k.a. bonnet) from BTTF 3, as well as 1:6 scale train tracks and replacement wheels. You can also get the big whitewall wheels that it had when Marty went from 1955 to 1895.

Like with the Trek subscriptions, I opted-in for all the extras. I put the Mr. Fusion on this build, but it also comes with the first movie’s first configuration with the removable reactor lid and case full of Plutonium rods that the Libyans came after Doc Brown for.

Each magazine has, yes, that issue’s build instructions, but also articles about the making of the films, interviews with cast and crew and other behind the scenes research for all 3 movies. The whole line really was quite amazingly researched.

Got lucky on eBay tonight. Came across someone selling the Trek 5 Galileo shuttle as a single on eBay.

I paid a little more that I really wanted to but it’s still cheaper than getting the full set it’s included in when I don’t want the other 3.

I just received an email from eaglemoss:

"Here is your opportunity to save both TIME and MONEY as you build your
U.S.S. ENTERPRISE NCC-1701-D

As a valued subscriber you have been selected for our offer to receive more issues in your next shipment to help you complete your collection sooner.

For a limited time, we are also offering special savings. All you need to do is click the link below to claim your offer.

This offer is unique to you and based on where you are in the subscription program. This offer is non-transferable and only available to subscription number: ***********"

You can get +4 issues added to your regular subscription for 5% off, +6 issues added to your regular subscription for 10% off, +12 for 15% off or +20 issues for 18% off. Wondering if this means they don't have enough regular monthly subscriptions....?

They did that for the DeLorean build, which I opted-in, but they ran dry two issues short of the end. Still waiting for them after 5 months. Not really a big deal at this point, as I think they're the last two railroad car wheels from the BTTF3 mod that I'm not using, but still...

I think that's actually an option you can do for all subscription-enabled lines, they just never publicized it. Unfortunately, their supply has been so spotty with COVID (and all of their supply coming from China), taking advantage of such an offer may not make much of a difference at present.

Looks like they've started to rebuild the Kelvin timeline background ships:

https://shop.eaglemoss.com/hero-collector/star-trek/u-s-s-armstrong-starship

The inconsistent sizes are annoying though... Most models are made at a larger size now, so they do not fit in with the ones from the regular collection, while this one is regular-sized, so it doesn't fit in with all the other JJ ships that were larger!

The Armstrong was one of the better ship designs, imo, from the Kelvin universe.

This might be an European exclusive. (The US link, I tried it again, and, well, it doesn' work.)

Whoa, whoa, Whoa!!!! Stop the press: Eaglemoss is doing the Kelvin timeline USS Armstrong!!!

So happy right now! It looks great, and has variant potential as mentioned by @Markonian previously.

Fingers crossed there more Kelvin starships to come (cough-Bey-Ent-A-cough, cough!)
