Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

I'd be happy to have one with the proportions of the actual filming miniature. The Stargazer is one of the Eaglemoss models that differs too much from the ship it's representing.
That was a deal killer for me- I really wanted one but the hull thickness mistake totally changed the look of the ship and was not something I could overlook.

I see what you mean. What do you think of the Furuta model? It's all plastic but the details are good and the shape fits.

I absolutely hate "battle-damaged" models. If I wanted battle damage I'd grab a marker pen. Fortunately Eaglemoss stayed away from them.

My only exception to the no Battle Damage pre made models rule would be a well done ST2-3 Battle Damaged 1701, where all the damage is really well mapped out and it almost is a character itself. And a Battle Damaged Matt Decker Constellation from the Doomsday Machine (better yet package a battle damaged Connie in with a Special Edition sized Doomsday Machine!)

Or better - a post-splosion Trek III refit based on the studio miniature. That would be trippy.

Although I always did wonder...what happened to all that unused antimatter? Shoudn't it have taken out the whole sector once the magnetic bottles ruptured from the re-entry?

Uncontained matter-antimatter reactions tend to go "fizz" -- the high energy particles and gamma rays released during annihilation blow the remaining M and AM apart -- so the potential energy is released over a longer time period. I believe Bob Forward worked out that the theoretical upper yield of a M-AM bomb is similar to that of the largest possible H bomb -- about 100 MT. However, it helps if you let Gravity assist in the containment. Hypernova explosions of very massive stars are powered by M-AM annihilation (pair-instability) and they're much, much bigger than a puny hundred megatons.

Got my copy of #90 the Romulan Scout Ship today. Lovely well crafted model, really really like it. Love the colour of it in a good light.

And in two weeks it's the USS Saratoga which I'll definitely get too, but after that I think it will be EIGHT weeks before I get another one. #92-94 I just don't think I'm interested in (the Medusan ship, Suliban Cell Ship, ECS Horizon.) I'm not interested in TOS remastered stuff; I haven't even seen most of it. Sulliban cell ship is up there with the Holoship for a "who cares about owning that" award for me, and I wasn't bothered about the ECS Fortunate back in #49; the Horizon is even uglier.

But then finally for #95 there's the USS Kyushu, gotta love the highlighter pens! :D

Forgot to mention that I got the Xindi-Reptilian ship a week or two ago and got the Romulan shuttle this week (Not the scoutship. That hasn't shown up here yet). The Xindi is pretty good, but Vreenak's shuttle is the one that really makes me smile.

Romulan ships have always had an avian inspiration but Doug Drexler took it further. Apparently he based it on his parrot. It even has tail feathers! :rommie:

Sorry, wanted to edit my post but hit the delete button.

Anyway, carved Voyager and Val Jean and fused them into one, Frankenstein style. It's very rough but the glue is holding. :ouch:

Given my lack of experience and that the models were not designed with that kind of fate in mind, I am taking liberties with the design. Rather than a proper Yeager, it'll be a Val Jean with Voyager saucer, nacelles and pylons foisted upon.
But until a proper model is released, it'll do. :adore:

I'll affix the nacelles tonight after work, and post/link the result.

What have you done?!

That doesn't look half bad actually! The Yeager was an "ugly beast" Frankenship to begin with so your little model is in the same spirit. Good work and may the glue hold!

This is what happens when you stick a Voyager model and a Maquis model in the same teleportation pod at the same time. :barf2::devil:

^ Thank you. The glue is actually washing the original paint off. I'd rather not add to its demise by swinging a brush.

To affix the nacelles was a pain in the neck. Hope the glue holds plastic and metal, too.

It looks comparatively large to me but that's because the Val Jean is a big model to begin with. It bugs me that the saucer is tilted - but the model will do until we receive a proper one. :D

Edit: The morning after - the glue holds. I'm happy.
