Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

They should be giving us these things at reduced prices, considering we are theoretically paying for the magazine along with the model. Alas, I doubt that will ever come to pass.

Besides, if a mag is missing, chances are you will need to buy the model again on eBay to get the mag (as nobody really ever just sells the magazine without the model) and then flip the extra model on eBay by itself (less uncommon, for some odd reason). I've already done that once, and fully expect to do it again at least 2 more times in the near future just to recover some of the cost involved. It sucks ass.

I always thought they had 1 magazine for every physical item, so if they had 2000 Enterprise D’s in the warehouse they would have 2000 magazines. But now I wonder if they just print them on demand.

I’m disappointed I’m not gonna get them but not heartbroken.

All true. Add to that the fact that the subscribers always got their ships several months (in some cases years) after they were released on the store. That’s apparently a completely separate operation that never commingles its stock with the subscription side. Very frustrating to see multiple things available in the store that have yet to be delivered many months after the fact.

Overall, I’ve been generally pleased with the quality and thoroughness of the product line, but there definitely some logistical issues that are in need of a serious remedy.

I certainly hope that’s the case, because half the reason why I bought the ships I did was for the magazines that I didn’t get.

Sorry, I misread the e-mail. They said they will be updating the page with the digital copies of the magazines. No mention of updating the product pages.

Yeah, I can’t imagine trying to print these at home. Maybe take them to a staples or kinkos or something that has a print center and can do it with the fancy paper and stuff. But at a point the cost and trouble just aren’t worth it.

Not yet, but they will. They only had up to 30 or 50 last week when they first announced it and now they're up to 150. I suspect that by the end of next week, they'll have it all finished up to 180, including the Excelsior prototypes. I'm waiting for them as well. #152 & 158 are the last ones I need to complete the set.

I've been considering placing my magazines in the recycling as I've read each one once and then filed them away, but I might sell the ones I have reading the last few pages.

^^^ They'll go up in value now that they may not be included with the models. If you're not interested in keeping them, you may be sitting on a small gold mine.
