Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Are there similar links for the specials, the Disco line and STO ones? Asking for a friend.
Heh... haven't heard about those yet. Keep in mind many of the specials (particularly the bigger ones and the XL's) have smaller magazines that are put in the box by the manufacturer before they're sealed, and not a separate thing like with the smaller models. I've gotten a number of those since the announcement, and those magazines were actually included, so those might potentially be skipped. I honestly don't know. Their notification didn't get into that level of detail. There are still a lot for them to put out there. All we can really do is wait.

I, for one, am simply glad these are all finally getting a proper PDF digital treatment. For a time, there was a special login for subscribers that had digital versions of the magazines up to the Daedalus (#100), but they weren't PDF's, but some in-site magazine "player" for lack of a different term, that didn't allow you to download the content. You could only flip through the pages like a slide show. Very clunky. Then it went away a couple of years ago and I haven't seen it since. As frustrating as it is to not have a complete set of magazines, the downloadable PDF's are a welcome arrival (at least for me).

I'm surprised that neither the Artifact nor the Utopia Planitia space station from season 1 have been made yet. I assumed they'd probably be released as XL-sized specials. In the Discovery collection, the first of those was released after 12 regular issues. So far, none have been announced for the Universe collection after 15 issues.

Ugh.

So I ordered the Antares NCC-9844, and the three Excelsior prototypes. I've never bought an EM ship before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Well, the first thing was that they sent me two of the same model (the 'Alka-selsior') even though it's clearly printed on the packing list that I had ordered three separate Excelsior prototype ships. So I'm still missing one. The second thing is that none of the models contained magazines. And the last thing (and maybe someone in the know can fill me in on this) is that the cardboard boxes these models come in are very small and don't seem to have a top, so all you get is the clear plastic insert holding the ship, and the bottom of the box. There isn't even any plastic wrap to hold anything in place. Is this normally how EM packages their ships?

Update: So I called Eaglemoss support about my duplicate ship issue. While they are going to ship me the correct Excelsior study model I ordered but didn't get, they told me to ship the duplicate model back to them, on my shipping dime. I'm a little miffed about that, because I don't feel like I should be paying shipping costs for something that was clearly EM's fault. However, I didn't argue this with the person on the phone because I could tell they were clearly not going to be helpful in that regard, and they are already shipping me the correct model anyway. On that note, I'm definitely going to at least wait until they ship me the correct model before sending the duplicate one back.

That's different. I've requested many replacements over the years and they have never once asked for me to mail anything back to them. Definitely a new (and somewhat unsettling) development in their "customer service process".

The packing list states, "Our products are guaranteed to meet your standards for quality and performance. If the shipment doesn't meet your expectations, you may return it at your expense (emphasis mine) within 30 days for refund by simply calling us."

Now if I just didn't like the ship I got, I can understand having to pay shipping to return it to them. But this was a mistake on their part. If I do indeed end up getting the correct ship, my honest nature will most likely still compel me to return the duplicate at my cost. It's just annoying. At best, they could at least have said, "Our mistake. Just keep the $20 duplicate ship you were mistakenly sent."

That's just it - that's what they used to do. That happened to me a couple of years back - they sent a duplicate - their fault, they just said, keep it, free of charge. So I just flipped it on eBay. I guess things have changed with the lack of supply.

Thank you for sharing!
I've waited for digital mags since the first Trek collection came out and it was advertised for subscribers.
Finally I can get images onto my PC that lack the central fold or irksome light/shadowplay.
Quite welcome! Hopefully they'll have up to 180 soon and maybe, if we're lucky, digital books on the Specials & XL's. Books for the Battlestar line would be nice too, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

Odd…now that…

the NX-01 refit is canon

I went to order it off Eaglemoss and it’s showing up as a pre-order. I guess that means they are restocking? Just seems odd for an older model.

I did however notice they restocked the Bonaventure so the trip wasn’t a total loss.

In the US that's a crime (though unless you can prove that its a widespread ongoing issue no one would ever prosecute over it).

If you press and talk to a supervisor it will almost always disappear. Happened to me when I ordered the JJverse X-L enterprise and they sent me a 3 nacelle All Good Things Enterprise. I simply said that I was recording this phone call for legal protection and repeated my issue. Mentioned that requiring a consumer to pay return costs on something they didn't order was illegal, and suddenly the issue disappeared.

Now the highlighted part is fairly new (it's been included in the last year at least), and since that is something that is a legal business practice no recourse on that issue.

Link? I didn't think they ever had the refit?

You mean the one with the secondary hull, right?

That is bizarre, especially since it's been out since 2016. I've had mine for years!

In any case, Amazon has them, and you can find a healthy stock of them on eBay as well, at varying prices, from all over the world.

Yeah, now that I’m on lunch I picked out one off Amazon that’s cheaper, with free shipping and I will get it mid-next week.
