Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Well that writing is there... but Eaglemoss made it just oh so slightly bigger than it should be..

Yeah I'm giving this one a miss. It's not the Enterprise-A at the end of the day is it.
I'm also fairly fed up with Eaglemoss in general. They sent me a faulty XL Voyager in Februrary so I sent it back for replacement (which ages to even sort and get a reply from them for what to do.) I never recieved anything and everytime I called they simply said "oh just keep waiting, it should be on it's way." Two months later it still hadn't shown, and then they were like "oh yeah, well it's out of stock now anyway." I did get a refund but to this day it's still out of stock on the webstore, so I've just given up with that.

The Discovery too is always always out of stock, so I've given up on that too. And from all the faults and wonky saucer pictures I've seen of it from so many people I don't even want it anymore either; it's not worth the risk.

Went to my local shop last Thursday to try get the latest issue, the Niagra-Class. It hadn't shown up, the shop owner said it was due but must have been delayed for some reason. Popped in the next day and still hadn't come, so again- forget it then. I can't be bothered checking all the time. I woud wait until it comes on the webstore, but that seems to be weeks and weeks after the street date now (it used to the same time.) And when they do appear they'll more than likely be out of stock anyway.

So yeah... not the best company in the world.

I picked up the Niagra this morning from Forbidden Planet in town, it's a yet another nice model for only being seen in half there in debris fields.

My dad got the standard Eaglemoss NX-01 off ebay for $1, all that was wrong was it is missing is the clear part of the stand, but that was mentioned in the description, so it's not like the seller left that part out.

i still think the products are top notch, despite the occasional quality control issues. however, the company needs to get its shit together organizationally.

i love how they emailed an apology for the way they handled the first issues of the discovery subscription, telling us issue 3 would be available on june 16. and now it’s the 13th and they haven’t taken payment or shipped the items yet.

gonna guess that’s not gonna be here on the 16th after all, but thanks for the apology.

That sucks. It's a pity they can't sort this out.

occasional quality control issues.
Hmmm, is there anyone here who hasn't had problems with their models?

in 5 years i've collected 34 standard ships, 11 specials, 2 shuttles, 2 XLs, 2 discovery starships, and 1 battlestar viper. i've only had to request a replacement once and that was for a slightly misaligned nose on my viper. other than that, one of my klingon warbird's nacelles was crooked and i had to snap it and glue it back on again, took 5 minutes.

that's really it for quality control issues and those have been pretty minor.

as for the company? i've thought they've been at a crossroads for a while. they haven't really produced any standard ships that i've wanted for about a year and it looks to me like they're trying to squeeze every last drop from the line. they've made some questionable decisions with their XL line and their handling of the discovery line has been downright terrible. we all know their customer service sucks, primarily because their reps are uninformed. they need to step up their social media and communications game. they also need to figure out their shipping issues, in the age of amazon 10 day shipping is not acceptable.

it does seem like they're taking steps. the UK just got next day delivery, which is amazing. if we had that here, getting their product would fee less like a chore and they'd have even more of my business. but it is a chore. i can't believe discovery issue 3 is delayed after the delay and the apology for the delay. they would've had an additional $60 of my money if they had opened preorders on the cylon raider instead of pushing back the release date a month and then opening preorders -- after i'd lost interest.

product aside, i honestly can't believe they're still in business.

I must say, I can't think of any with mine.
I've had a couple of assembly problems, but nothing that couldn't be quickly rectified with somthe crazy glue and 20 seconds. Never had to ask for a second model. Had to ask for a first one many times, though. ;)

I believe next-day delivery in the UK is only for orders over £50 (about $70). At least, that's according to the email that Eaglemoss sent me.

I have had several that were broken. I always get a replacement because money is tight and I want wait I payed for in good condition. (That and the only glue that I feel comfortable using is Elmer's!) I am afraid to user super glue. :) In fact I had to 4 broken Curry's in a row before I received one that was undamaged one. They have never asked me to send the broken ones back.

I took a VERY long bike trip to a comics shop at the other end of the city and came back with the USS Bozeman, which I'd ordered from them weeks ago. When I first saw it, I noticed the top sensor/blaster/whatever on top was crooked. Fortunately, they had another one in stock and just let me switch it. I'm happy to say no bent or crooked bits with this one.

They did a really good job with this one. Comparing it to some of the other ships I have, I notice it's the same scale as the Reliant, rather than the Saratoga. This one's also got some red outlining around the two long gray shuttlebay strips on the top of the saucer, as well as around the registry number, something neither of the two other ships have. For some reason, some ships that have those squared-off movie-era nacelles seem to be either clear blue plastic, or painted blue, though usually, they were neither. With the exception of the few times we saw the refit-Enterprise or the Enterprise-A at warp, I believe they were typically just black on TNG and DS9, until the shows transitioned to CG ships.

Now, I'll just have to figure out how I'm going to display this one, since I want to have it with its two sisters. (And I should take this opportunity to fix the Reliant, as one nacelle strut is broken). It was a bit of a wait to get this ship, but I'm happy it's here.

There's not really any upcoming confirmed that I'm too excited about (still waiting on the Merchantman, the Groumall, and the Jem'Hadar battleship), so I think I'll probably reach back and try to catch up on some of the older ships I missed like the refit Enterprise (I wasn't in a hurry, since I have the Enterprise-A), the Pasteur, the Delta Flyer, and the Cheyenne class. Of course that'll have to wait until I save up a bit.

Ah! Was about to post this. Yeah the KM looks very well done. Been waiting for that one for a very long time.

I'm not a big fan of the E-B but it looks really good too.

Someone had done a comparison of the Kobayashi Maru up there vs. the actual CGI file... they look nothing alike.
It's ruined forever for me.
Just saw the comparison and you're right. I'm wondering what Eaglemoss' source is. Somehow they've got the nacelle colour wrong, the registry size, placement and font completely wrong, the bridge module is from the USS Franklin...

Wtf?
