Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

I’m in the UK and sometimes the specials get delivered with the regulars, sometimes not. Not received either delivery yet.

Oh thanks for that it makes me feel better. I’ve always had my specials arrive in the same box as my regular issues. To know they don’t always come like that makes me good. I was just worrying that I’d have to call customer services. Ahhhhhhh

The Viper Mk II and first DeLorean shipment arrived at the same time yesterday. I am VERY pleased with how the Viper looks and feels. Very heavy and sturdy. SO looking forward to getting some of the capital ships in this line. Of course my wife asked me, "don't you already have one of those?", to which I replied, "well, yeah, the Diamond Select version, but THIS one has a transparent canopy!" Queue roll-eyes... But at least she hasn't gotten up my ass about yet another Eaglemoss subscription.

And the DeLorean is going to be positively amazing...1:8 scale is going to make this thing huge! Issues 1 and 2 brought the rear fascia and taillight system along with the left-front fender. Real metal components with plastic trim is super high-quality and very easy to assemble, even for my failing eyes. It is a beautiful set-up and I have no remorse about getting into this sub as well. And again, I had to approach the wife with "I have a small confession to make...I'm building another DeLorean." Silence and a quizzical look followed, at which point I showed her the tail assembly. A small smirk and chuckle, shake of the head and I was safe. I'm pretty sure the electrical system on this one will be a million times better than my original '81 DMC-12!

Long and short, highly recommended if you got the spare cash for it.

oh hey, discovery issues 5 (august) and 6 (september) were announced this morning:

Interesting that they’re not calling it the Vulcan corvette anymore.

Also, got the Klingon warbird special and was surprised to learn it’s a D7 class vessel.

Well, at least the Kverse Klingon warship is actually closer in design and aesthetics to the classic D-7 than that abomination from the Discoverse. (Yes, I know it is set in the prime timeline. However, it is easier for me in my mind to make that distinction and it is not a rare thing to say. Doctor Who is essentially one whole thing, yet people say there is a classic Who and a new Who even though they are in the same universe, somewhat.)

I have seen pictures of the warbird. It is a shame that the model was not seen more in the movies.

Of the Europa and the Vulcan cruiser, the first one is a good design and, in the latter, I am seeing a face. Of the Federation designs, I dislike most is the Hoover - the side profile sucks.

Eaglemoss calls the DSC “D7” the Sech class. To wit, only it’s tractor beam was identified as belong to D7 class.
Eaglemoss (Re: DSC production team) gave nearly all the Klingon ships a Klingon name.

D7 is probably the federation/starfleet designation.

That's a GREAT USS Reliant! - DiscoSTYLE
Eh I disagree. It has 4 nacelles. Their are other 2 nacelles designs that look closer to the Miranda class.

Did they fix the primary hull accuracy issues or is it pretty much what we've seen - a pre-Trumbull Phase II PH?

Got the pics working above. I think it’s pretty much what we’ve already seen but I’m not sure what all the differences were.

Yep. Wow...full of horrible errors. Such a shame for them to have done so poorly at that scale, with so many excellent and highly-detailed smaller models out there. Really looks like a rush job, in both research and painting. Even the aztecking is wrong and off-scale. :sigh:

was actually pretty tempted to order this until photos of the model in hand started to show up online. the registry on the side of the saucer is particularly egregious.

maybe they'll fix some of these issues with the inevitable NCC-1701.
